Extremely disappointed I’ve been to numerous drop in OT classes in the past In both the US and in Canada and the new location in Montreal at 237 Laurier W was the worst. It’s way off from their set franchise guidelines and doesn’t feel like the true OT experience. I hope that head office recognizes this as it is nothing like the incredible experiences I’ve had in the past. 1. First off, you can barely hear the music! They say they can’t put it up and they blame the neighbors upstairs - why are they going to inconvenience the 300+ members who paid a lot money for the OT experience when one guy can hear the downstairs business... and they knew a studio was going to open as they’ve been advertising it for months and pushing the opening date since the summer (another big disappointment ) if the upstair neighbor is really that annoyed with the music, why aren’t they bothered by the constant yapping by the instructor? His voice is amplified by his mic and drowns out the music even more. 2. Which brings me to my second point: The instructor (Ludovic) loved the sound of his own voice. Typically the instructors I’ve had in the past took up no more than 40% of their mic time during an 1 hour class. I honestly could not believe how much he talked, it was 95% of the class. Very distracting and annoying as we’re trying to get into the zone. He doesn’t need to repeat the same instructions over and over again- we’re not idiots! We get it dude - relax! and we have our parameter cards in front of us if we suddenly get amnesia 10 mins into the class. 3. And as a courtesy for the other members, instructors should turn off their mic when giving personal feedback one on one. I’ve seen amazing instructors give people their space and offer advice without yelling it into the mic for everyone to hear. I don’t care if Becky’s squats are on point...or if you’re trying to flirt with one of the members- it’s very unprofessional. 4. id rather they have female instructors so that the predominantly female clientele feel more comfortable. The guy was making passes before the class started to a member who was visibly uncomfortable.. It’s inappropriate and like I said, very unprofessional. 5. I mentioned it earlier and I know the owner tried his best, but I was very frustrated with the constant delays in opening this location. I felt mislead. I cancelled my gym membership because of Orange theory. I had been to other OT classes and LOVED it, I couldn’t wait to start at this studio, just a few steps from where I live. the owner told me that they would open the studio in December 2019. I had signed up in October 2019 and cancelled my gym membership in November in anticipation of the opening and also to save money as I wouldn’t be able to afford both a gym membership and the expensive OT monthly fees plus the heart monitor. I was extremely disappointed that I had to wait a full 3 months before taking a class at this location and essentially missed out on 3 months of my health and well being while gaining weight and Losing my momentum. I’ve been to other OT classes and the instructors were lively and helpful but The entire mood at this location is sad and it’s changed my outlook on the brand and integrity of the OT head office. It feels like a funeral home when you walk in, no music, no happy welcoming receptionist but a really standoff-ish dude that couldn’t care less (he told me himself he doesnt care what the members goals are for working out- wow. It’s a really weird guy with black hair.) It’s a lot of money to spend per month and I have to admit that I needed to justify why I would be paying a full $100 extra per month versus the $40/per month I was paying at my gym. I was really looking forward to the opening of this location so im beyond bummed as it doesn’t represent the orange theory brand in the best light and I’ve lost the admiration and pride I had for the community :(

Orange Theory Fitness has always been a stand-out establishment, but I am particularly impressed by the new Plateau location! The studio is bright and beautiful, and I was greeted by so many smiling faces the second I walked in. The people at the front desk are very helpful in getting you set up, whether you're brand new or a regular face. I took my class with Ludovic, who showed from the moment I walked in that he really cared that everyone was excited to be there and motivated to do their personal best. He seemed extremely knowledgeable on workout and post-workout strategies. He was thorough and enthusiastic for the entire class, making sure that everyone's technique was safe and effective. His energy was infectious, helping me get through a tough but attainable workout! He and the entire OTF team were beyond helpful in integrating me into this community. Even though the studio is brand new (evident from the radiance of the Orange equipment), they seem to be integrating seamlessly into the Montreal fitness community! Thank you, Orange Theory Plateau! You will be seeing me again.

I’ve tried two classes here so far and I’m impressed! The facility is brand new and beautiful, and the machines are super cool and modern. Each instructor has a slightly different style, but they give similar amounts of personalized attention and help with form. The classes change daily and work you in different ways. I found Ludovic to be really supportive and clear in his instruction. He had a lot of energy and really pushed all of us in the right way! His music was loud and perfect for running to the beat. I also tried a class with Elodie and loved it. She’s very clear in instruction and friendly too. There’s always another instructor working as well to provide even more support, and they were very helpful and motivating. Everyone at OrangeTheory is very sweet and friendly from the moment you walk in the door. I highly recommend.

TLDR; I love the diversity of these workouts; every day is different and challenging in new ways. The coaches are motivating (in both french and english) and the *growing* community is so supportive and welcoming. I participated in the VIP trial soft opening, and 4 classes within the week; I am hooked! the negative reviewer may have been a little too harsh and unfair. It's the OTF plateau soft opening, you can't expect the experience of a newly open gym, with staff in training to give you the exact same experience as a gym with veteran employees; seriously Ms. Tremblay have some compassion. The last two weeks the staff and coaches were clearly going through their own onboarding experience; they are figuring their rhythm and rhyme. The SA team have been super welcoming, and they have done an amazing job educating the curious walks ins of Orange Theory while clocking/syncing everyone in! I did find one of the trainers too much for me, where i I ended both class with a migraine (take note that this is personal, the vocal pitch/cadence and frequency of encouragement were too much for me..however other participants enjoyed his banter). For the next month, I'll most likely aim to take classes with Laurent and Elodie, as i like their coaching technique and class momentum. On the last day of the trial (Sunday feb 23 2020) the franchise owner, Michael was present - what I appreciated from the conversation was how it is important to put "members first" ( also the value-statement of OTF), and his staff upholds this value in the customer service they are providing! I love the experience and the challenges, and to be clear, don't let the ads fool you where you see young 20+ year olds with perfect beach bods with sweat glitter. You are going to be surrounded by genuinely amazing people, all ages, shapes and sizes!!

I’ve been to a few Orange Theories but the one located in the Mile End is by far the best! Brenda, the manager has such high energy, a positive attitude no matter the day you walk in! Elie, who you often see working the front desk is so welcoming and calm even through the busiest of times. The workouts are incredible and the space is large and one big open floor plan which helps a lot when you need to listen to the coach and follow a long. I’ve been to many gyms but this one is by far the best! I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been and I have to admit I’ve become an OT addict! Love the staff, love the workouts, love the space! Highly HIGHLY recommend joining Orange Theory in the Mile End.
