The financial adviser Jean-Francois Gobeil has made banking with National Bank worth it. He really takes time to understand your own personal situation to put together a financial plan made for you. At my first meeting we spent an hour together planning a personal budget for the following year, and I was not a client of the national bank yet! I would recommend him and by extension National Bank to any of my friends.

I suppose to receive a call back in two days, but it's been more than 2 weeks. They are not responding to my emails. Every time I contact the bank, the receptionist tells me that she will pass the message and I will get an update about my application. I have not received any updates yet. It's more than 2 weeks and the line of credit application takes just 2-3 days to get an update that whether I will get line of credit or not.

It was an amazing experience especially when you find an pro active employee ( rose and Nesrine ) it make all big transactions very smoothly, it’s even easier than order a Starbucks coffee :)

I had a wonderful experience at the National Bank on Rideau St in Ottawa. Jean-François was amazing at helping me with a banking package available for my field of study. He explained everything in ways that were easy to understand and made my transition from other Banks a breeze. He helped me create realistic and attainable financial goals for myself and set up a plan to achieve them. The service was quick and efficient! I was set up with a new bank account, credit card and line of credit will full access within 1-2 weeks. They definitely are a go to for any student looking to assess their financial situation and plan for the future!

My previous review was very negative but it quickly came to a satisfactory resolution. As soon as Rideau street branch bank manager Michel Bizier became aware of the problems that I encountered settling my mother's Estate, he offered to help me and apologized for the level of service that I had been receiving. Within 2-3 weeks it was all sorted out to my satisfaction and to the level of service and professionalism that I had been expected from a reputable financial institution. Thank you Michel Bizier. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- January 16, 2020 Caveat Emptor - Warning - At your own risk !! Worst bank to do business with. If your parents are getting old seriously consider moving their assets to another bank asap as the estate transactions at the National Bank are very opaque, slow and without communication. The financial advisors that I dealt are not trustworthy. '1. Financial advisor Fouzia (no longer at Rideau branch) gave incomplete & false information and didn't follow my instructions when modifying my mother's assets. To cover herself she doesn't reply to emails !! '2. Financial advisor Mathieu is either incompetent in preparing documents which needed signatures or just lazy. I understand that he had to deal with Estate department in Montreal (not the best - it's like dealing with a black box) but he should at least have the courtesy to reply to emails or return calls. '3. Access or display of the joint accounts was removed without explanations or advance warnings. '4. And forget about calling reception .. class go to voicemail and are may be replied 2-3 days later. I hate to leave a bad review but I feel that people should be warned !!

I am writing this review specifically regarding my Personal Bank Advisor, Jean-François Gobeil. I can easily say he is the best bank advisor I have ever worked with. He goes above and beyond in every manner with respect to my finances, genuinely trying to help me with aspects that I hadn't even thought of. Unprompted, he has helped me reduce costs on my student line of credit, simplify repayment, manage dual currency, and figures out innovative ways to make my life easier! I am living in the US and he has sends me packages of information with all options laid out for me, with clear instructions. He responds incredibly quickly to my queries, and it is always a pleasure to work with him. I hope he never retires!

WORST SERVICE I ever had compared to any other bank I work with. I would like to give zero star if Google has the option. National Bank spent one whole week with no any appraisal company found but still charge me $300 after I told them stop the process since deadline already missed. AND it has been EIGHT WEEKS since I asked for refund but no idea where it is now. I have followed up over TEN times from March to May but haven't got my money back, still been told to wait in patient (Never hear back from email in below. I strongly doubt National bank is SCAM and doesn't want to refund me)
