Went to Mudlab with some friends for their “clay with bae” night and had such a lovely experience! The owner of the studio led a private class for six of my friends where we made bowls on the wheel. Most of us (myself included) had next to no ceramics experience, but the owner, Andres, was an excellent teacher and took us through the process step-by-step. We had a ton of fun and all ended up with a bowl that the owner is going to fire/ glaze for us. Private lesson + beautiful bowl = amazing value (if you ask me)! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun and affordable studio in Vancouver!! Thanks again :-))

Had an absolutely AMAZING time here on a night out with some of my friends! The owner led a private class where we learned how to make a bowl on the pottery wheel. I had no experience going into this and given my lack of pottery skills I had low expectations in what I would be able to make... but Andres (owner) was a great teacher who walked us through the entire process. I made a beautiful bowl that I am so proud of!! This was such a fun, unique outing to do with friends, very affordable as well. I highly recommend! Thank you so much :)

A great studio for group pottery. I have been with friends on a few different occasions and the owner is a very kind and engaging instructor. Great atmosphere, lots of cool work to look at while you're there too! Definitely looking to take a class from them in the near future.

Don't come here if you don't enjoy friendly, welcoming environments, good music, cute dogs, and the freedom to explore your creativity. I could not say enough good things about Mudlab and the owner Andres. It is the polar opposite to the last studio I went to where you weren't allowed to ask for help if you were only doing a drop in, the atmosphere was often tense and I felt very restricted with glazing. At Mudlab, members are happy to chat with each other and have no issues asking for help from the supervisor or other members. The studio is so dog friendly that my dogs always come with me and can freely walk around to get loved on by everybody. You are allowed to glaze whenever you're in the studio so you're not rushing to get your pieces done within a tiny time slot while also competing with other people for colours. The space is beautiful and open so you don't feel separated or confined in any way. Andres genuinely wants to help and see members succeed and excel. Mudlab is as perfect a place for beginners who've never sat at a wheel as it is for experts looking to further their skills.

I've taken classes at several Vancouver studios and mudlab has been by far my favourite. Super chill vibe and unpretentious. Beautiful airy space with plenty of storage space. Lots of clay and glaze options. Instructors are very experienced professional potters but also very cool people.

Mudlab is the absolute best. Having moved to Vancouver from a smaller city and a smaller clay community, I tried a few other studios and Mudlab hands down has been my favourite - unpretentious, welcoming, spacious and with instructors who are excellent teachers and mentors. Andres and Vin are easy going and easy to approach with any questions or concerns you may have. I always feel they are genuinely there to help! For me, one of the main thing that really sets them apart is that I never feel like just a customer with them and I never feel like they are there for the money. I missed a class due to a minor accident and Andres offered a free drop-in session to me…when a month later I hadn’t taken him up on it, he reminded me again that I still had my free session. Mudlab feels like a community rather than a commercial space. Because they aren’t actively selling their pieces, the pieces you make are prioritized in the same way as their own pieces - there is no difference in the clay and glazes offered to students as what the instructors use on their own pieces. Unashamedly plugging in a couple of photos of my work that I completed there. Instagram @rohoceramics

I couldn't love mudlab more! The space is so bright and inviting, as well as the owner and teacher Andres being so friendly and welcoming. The perfect spot to get creative (and muddy!!). The space is laid out so well with a drop-in area at the front to practice on your own with other studiomates, a large class area with many wheels in the middle, a resident members section behind, along with really efficient glazing and cleanup stations and a fully stocked shared tools area with everything you could need. I absolutely love being in the space and spend most Saturday mornings dropping in here. It is the perfect environment to learn and grow, with such helpful and encouraging teachers Andres and Vin. So much fun to be had at mudlab in classes, drop-ins or one-off workshops!

I signed up for a Mudlab class and wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a super welcoming environment, excellent tuition and the whole vibe of the location is super chill. Being able to do drop-ins after a course is good to allow learning and practicing different things with the clay. Bonus points for good background music too!
