About Modern Eye
Eye exams for children are very important to ensure your child’s eyes are healthy and poor vision does not interfere with school performance and safety.
According to a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, approximately 35 percent of preschoolers have nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness or astigmatism. Also, the risk of myopia and progression of myopia continues through the school years.

We have been going to her for years, since she started her practice here and I have referred many people to her. Will continue to do so.

Not only is Dr. Karen Hodgins very pleasant & knowledgable, when it comes to explaining information regarding the eye, she does so in an extremely straightforward and easy to understand way. A big shout out to the wonderful ladies at the front desk as well, who are always so warm and helpful. They continually go above and beyond to provide exemplary service. The clinic's selection and cost of frames are also outstanding, with tons of styles to choose from. Always a fantastic experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Huge thanks to Dr. Karen Hodgins and her team. They agreed my request for un unplanned appointment today. Dr. Hodgins was very knowledgeable and detail oriented. She explained me in simple words the problem, risks and the solution/path forward. The clinic was so clean and organized. Everything as planned and no waiting time. Calgarian are really very lucky which have Dr. K. Hodgins in town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I cannot rave enough about this place! I took my 3 year old to try on glasses here and all of the staff were absolutely amazing. He was not happy to be trying on glasses and they were not only patient but they were able to convince him that it would be cool to wear glasses. They were able to help us find a good fit for him and had a wide selection of toddler/kids glasses. We loved it so much that we will be switching to this optometrist for future eye exams.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had an eye exam with Dr. Hodgins She is extremely thorough and adjusted my prescription until I was totally satisfied. The optician, Marina, was very good at picking the right frames that would work for my prescription, face shape and style. She also was very helpful at explaining the different types of lenses. I have had the glasses for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love them. Thanks for such a wonderful experience!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went to Modern Eye and they was able to see me within an hour. The optician and her team made me feel comfortable and safe. The eye exam was very relaxed and she took her time to explain what was going on to me, and areas we needed to keep an eye on going forward.
After the exam I went out to pick my eye glass frames. The ladies here where very helpful and patient. They bought over 20 different frames for me to try on and spent almost an hour just helping make a decision on what’s looked best for me and suited my needs.
