About Mill Creek Cafe

ABOUT US

We’re an independent family run cafΓ©, and we love home made. Our customers consider us Mill Creek’s hidden gem.

‘Keep’n it real’ is our approach

Every day, we make 9-grain bread from scratch – no fats, sugars, dairy (eggs) or preservatives. Every day, we tempt you with our ever changing variety of soups – vegetarian or meat based.

Every day, we dish up the city’s best sandwiches:

  • Made-to order deli specials;

  • Grilled sandwiches, like our signature Turkey,
    Brie, Cranberry & Pear; and

  • Old time favourites, like Monte Cristo and Reuben.

And we use the best ingredients – our turkeys come from Morinville’s Hutterite Colony, and our beef – well it’s specially roasted by us in house.

Breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner

We serve breakfast daily Monday through Friday. And weekend brunch is a favourite destination. Plus expanded menu – we do Eggs Benedict four different ways!

Our services

  • Vegetarian and gluten free options;

  • Small group functions on site; and

  • Off site private and corporate catering.

Went for Breakfast and had the egss Benny with a Latte. Eggs Benny was on fairly burnt toast which may be the way they make it here. Some of it was black burnt not just crispy, just to clarify. The Latte was actually really good and was the highlight of the visit. For a cafe, the selection of hot beverages is pretty limited which is surprising. Although the beverages they do make are very good. The service was not good. We were never asked for another latte which usually is customary in the restaurant industry to ask how food is tasting and also when the beverages sit empty to ask if you want a top up. Not a huge deal though. My wife's food came out cold but she claims it was okay as far as breakfast food goes. Informed someone that grabbed the dishes from our table that we would like the receipt and split it up amongst my group. The person acknowledged the request about the receipts but then after waiting another 10 or 15 minutes had to flash my card at someone else to get the bill due to not getting any attention from servers. Receipts were created incorrectly which was a bonus for me because the people I was with paid for my latte. Can't say I would recommend this place based on this visit given the other great options for breakfast around Edmonton.

Really good! My only huge complaint was the charge on refills for coffee (mainly because it was amazing coffee and I would have had 4 or 5 cups if there hadn't been a charge for refills!). Our food was fantastically made, hot yummy and good to look at! Was a little disappointed by there not being any bennys as that was the whole reason we went, but oh well! The scramble I got was delish!

Literally every other table was served before me. I had to ask a waiter to take my order after waiting patiently for 20 minutes. The food was okay, $19 eggs and potatoes. It's a popular place but I've enjoyed much better breakfasts in Edmonton and I've experienced better service at Denny's. Over rated restaurant.

Today a friend of mine and I met at the Mill Creek Cafe. We waited for our breakfast for over 45 minutes. I noticed right away that the oil my food was cooked in tasted rancid. So did my friends breakfast. It was so unpleasant we both couldn't finish eating. When the manager came to talk to us. He accused us of lying about how bad our food was because he "tasted the potatoes and there was nothing wrong with them." He said the only thing he could do was comp our coffees. When my friend protested the manager said that we ate most of our meals (a lie) and therefore he couldn't in good conscious, comp our overly expensive inedible meals . We only ate our eggs and toast...because we were starving and one of us had to leave. The manager also belittled our waiter saying that "he had no power to comp our coffees." It was awkward to see a manager throw the staff he works with under the bus. I didn't eat anything afterwards and about two hours later, I began to get violently ill and so did my friend. I will never eat at this cafe again or recommend it to other people.

Really good, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere that's great for adults and children alike. My picky eater who doesn't eat much gobbled up the crepe (regular size as there aren't kids meals), as did my toddler. Had to buy him a cinnamon bun (also amazing) because he wanted more to eat... Unheard of for my kid! Food was fantastic and everything was fresh and looked like it was made in house from scratch.

Went here for an impromptu breakfast with a friend. Great service, the food was fresh and made in house from scratch. I would strongly recommend the latkes! Only downside is the parking is minimal and we saw Bylaw out regularly.

A comfortable corner shop where my coworker and I enjoyed breakfast. Typical of a local gem which we enjoyed. The food was good and the self serve coffee was great (dark roast). Friendly and service oriented.

It's small and quaint like many coffee shops. They bake their own bread here so I'm sure the sandwiches are amazing for that reason alone. This has more then coffee and pastries Our food was excellent. Its location is on a corner with some street parking. Free parking is offered at the back of the building. There is patio dining however we were there in winter. Looking forward to a return visit to sit out there and watch life go passing by on Whyte Ave.
