Biera Edmonton Restaurant | Food + Beer - Biera.ca

Blind Enthusiasm welcomes you to Biera, our restaurant dedicated to pairing creative sharing plates and dishes off our charcoal grill, with our beer.

About Biera

Blind Enthusiasm is driven by our passion for great beer and fine food. We brew three distinct types of beer at two locations in Edmonton. We brew crisp ales and lagers as well as complex barrel-aged beers at the Market, located alongside our restaurant, Biera. At The Monolith we’re running one of largest barrel-fermented beer programs in Canada.

The Market brewery and Biera are practically inseparable, with the brewhouse in a glass box inside the warm, industrial Biera dining room. Chef Christine Sandford has devised an award-winning, creative menu inspired by European bistro fare, and head brewer Rob Monk makes delicately balanced beers to match the food and satisfy any beer drinker.

Our brewers always strive for excellence while planning and brewing a beer, allowing the appropriate amount of time to let our beers finish naturally. We don’t filter our beers, and instead use extended cold conditioning to let our beers naturally clarify and mature before release. Our beers are complex and don’t always fit within a certain style, but are always balanced and drinkable.

Upstairs at the Ritchie Market is our barrel room, where we run a barrel-aging program dedicated to melding beer with the flavours of wine and spirit barrels. We also have a couple event spaces, with a particular focus on hosting charity events. Learn more about our event spaces.

Just blocks away is The Monolith, our brewery and barrel house designed from the ground up to create complex, acidic beers via barrel fermentation. (Folks often refer to these as “sour” beers, but we make a specific type of beer in this fairly broad category). The Monolith is one of a handful of facilities in North America that is dedicated to this style of brewing. Head brewer Doug Checknita applies both the art and science of brewing to create beers that can age for years and compete with the finest wines.

Why are we doing all of this? Because we love beer and we want to share what we make with as many people as possible. We’re ambitious and to deliver on our dreams we’ve gathered a tremendously talented team with a common vision. Read on and learn about the folks behind Blind Enthusiasm.

Great restaurant in Ritchie neighborhood! It’s a good spot to grab some drinks (Blind Enthusiasm Brewery) and food! Even though I don’t have the picture, their beef tartare is one of the best in Edmonton! In the same building, there is ACME meat market, Transcend cafe (local coffee roaster), and Duchess Bake Shop (second location).

Our food was simply incredible. We ordered the scallops, lobster mushrooms, chicory nectarine salad and short ribs. All the flavors were diverse and so amazing. I didn’t expect fine dining quality from a gastro- pub so it’s was a sweet surprise. We’ll definitely be back.

Great food with okay beer; the place was packed but the food was top notch so I definitely understand why. I’ll be taking friends back for sure. Edit: just found out that the owner of Biera is a financial donor to Mike Nickel. Unfortunately this will be both my first and last visit.

The food quality itself was amazing, the dumplings were fantastic. I liked the concept that everything is meant to be shared. The restaurant itself is also really interesting in terms of the design. The food is a bit on the pricier end (especially for the portion of food we got). We ordered one of the cheeses and jam and it didn’t come with any crackers which we thought was a bit strange… but when we asked our server for them they brought some over. Though I wish we got more food for the price we paid, it was very tasty and I’m glad I tried it!!

Finally made it out to Biera, it didn't disappoint. Food was incredible, patio was beautiful and the beer flight was fantastic. Too expensive to go very often but it's a nice treat and I actually appreciate the high prices because it reflects the general respect and value they put on their staff. I know they treat their staff well and also respect the fact that if you bring together talented people, the best equipment and incredible ingredients that you can provide an experience that is a cut above your average Edmonton restaurant.

We came here for my birthday celebration on Oct. 5 2021- Ordered nearly everything on the menu plus some wine and a large variety of beer. The food was amazing, everything was clearly made with care and skill, and every dish was a contender for the tables favorite. Our server Marcell was incredibly attentive and humorous, always ready with refills, timing and quips. He handled the pacing and order of the dishes and ultimately created an incredible experience for us. We'll definitely be back again!

Reception: no problem with our reservation and very welcoming but they did tell us we couldn't stay more than 1 hr and 45 min before we were even sat down. Design and decor: a perfect blend between industrial and bohemian cafe. Service: super happy with our server Chris who took the time to tell us how to get the best experience at this place. Food: phenomenal! The taste and presentation is what I would expect of a "fine dining" restaurant; no doubt the best thing about this place! The bad: they told us we had only until 7:45 pm but the food came at 7:30 pm - even though we ordered right after we sat (maybe 6:15) so even if we wanted to leave at that time it would be impossible. Food and dessert was slow to come out and that was not acknowledged. How can icecream take over 15 min to come out?

One of my favorite restaurants! Love the location and ambiance in the restaurant. I also love the partnership with Blind Enthusiasm Brewing because the beer is delicious! When it comes to their food it's pretty hard to beat! Tried the Beef Tartare which was fantastic and even more so with the toasted sourdough bread they make! Also had the Sourdough Pizza with potato, onion, bacon fat, and fancy cheese. Kind of tasted like perogies and Best Crust Ever! Lastly we had the Grilled Beef Short-Rib with kale and watermelon Radish Salad.
