I don’t know what has happened with Mid Island Cabinets over the last six and a half years (since we had cabinets made for our whole house by them) but we are not impressed at all. I will not recommend this company. These are just some of the issues: Designer did not inform us about getting lights until three days before lights needed to be installed. We had three different installers who appeared not to have been briefed on what needed to be done on the project. An installer refused to put baseboards back on after they were removed. Drawers were not placed correctly and had to be lowered. Pieces were missing when installers were here to put them in. Even worse is they left nail holes above a moulding on a flat backing. They claim this is β€œindustry standard”. If this is their β€œindustry standard” I feel the industry does not have very high standards. They refused to repair these nail hole deficiencies and have now taken us to collections.

We dealt with Brent and were very happy with his suggestions and design. He helped us get the kitchen we wanted. The installation also went very well. Overall very positive experience.

We used Mid Island Cabinets, on recommendation from friends, when doing a complete kitchen renovation. Instead of finishing the job as they advised, it took more than 2 months longer than originally told, with no explanation or apology. Their answer to our request for an explanation, was to try to blame who they called 'the Independent Sales Contractor, when they themselves were totally responsible for the delay. Our contractor was also delayed by Mid Island Cabinets not completing their work on time. After a year, they finally finished our kitchen. It turned out ok, but I could never recommend this company.

First time purchasing a new kitchen and we are very pleased we chose Mid-Island Cabinets. The Sales process was great and Robert W helped us out and was a pleasure to deal with. He made several design suggestions that were very helpful. The cabinet quality is excellent and a great value as compared to prefab kitchens. We now have a very special and beautiful kitchen at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

What a cool experience. Robert from the Parksville Branch is working with me and he's great. He met me at the Nanaimo location after hours, so he could show me more options and more variety. I thought that was really cool because with my hours I work it's difficult to design a kitchen. I felt I was getting private one-on-one service and felt really special LOL

3yrs ago I hired a designer from Mid Island Cabinets. December 2021, my 3yr old dishwasher leaked. Restoration company came in to deal with the water damage. Gabled walls around fridge were water damaged, would need to be replaced, through insurance. Mid Island was contact for the insurance, replacement of the damaged gabled walls. When the restoration company came into remove the gabled walls they removed the upper cabinet above the fridge, to discover mold on the ceiling above the fridge cabinet, I have crown moulding to the ceiling. I contacted Mid Island to inform them of the problem. The restoration company stated that the mold was from the fridge not having proper ventilation. Mid Island stated that that designer does not work for them anymore. I stated that didn’t matter it was there designer, I wanted someone to come out and take a look at the problem. No one ever showed up. There have been countless emails back and forth between designers, managers, owner. The fridge is 29 3/4” and the enclosure for the fridge was 30”, that only gave 1/8” clearance on each side of the fridge. I sent them pictures of the fridge in place, the mold on the ceiling, a picture of the cabinet door not opening after the fridge was delivered, which they had to fix. I contacted my sales man at the appliance company because Mid Island said they had different fridge specs, not the same as the fridge I had purchased. That ended up being untrue. The appliance company was able to send me the email that was sent to the designer, which I forwarded to Mid Island. I contacted Samsung Appliances, sent them all the design plans, fridge information, pictures of the fridge in place, the mold on the ceiling. They also said the mold was possibly due to not enough clearance around the fridge for proper ventilation. That information was also forwarded to Mid Island. Mid Island stated the clearance around appliances is only a recommendation. My attic was checked for mold, nothing in the attic. I contacted the owner of Mid Island due to the Nanaimo Manager not responding. He stated the mold on the ceiling could be from dishwasher leaking, not true there is not any mold climbing up the wall to the ceiling. Mid island has stopped responding to the restoration company so the restoration company has had to get the gabled walls built from a company in Victoria, who is also redesigning the upper cabinet to allow for proper ventilation of the fridge. I have done everything, to find the cause of the mold on the ceiling and it still comes back to improper ventilation of the fridge. It has not matter to Mid Island what information I have brought to them proving to them what caused the mold, they are still denying it had anything to do with there design. I sent them the information from Samsung stating how much clearance is needed for proper ventilation. Mid Island states it is only a recommendation. I’m having to pay for the mold to be cleaned, and for a new upper cabinet made, which will be shorter and give more space between the top of the fridge and bottom of the upper cabinet, also a vent will be install in the outer gabled wall. I feel this all should be at the expense of Mid Island Cabinets, not me. I would not recommend this company, they do not stand behind there designer, also poor customer service.
