β β β β β Have been coming here for a few years now. Great staff, always helpful. Extra points to the bike mechanics. Never had an issue. MEC branded gear holds up to decades of abuse and lasts. Keep up the good work!

β β β β β Great experience picking up my bike today from MEC in Calgary. Got a thorough walk through of the bike from technician Julia and she showed me how the pedals, seat, handlebars etc could all be adjusted. Really appreciate the extra time she took to show me about the bike!

β β β β β I'm sorry MEC, but you're not special enough to have paid parking in front of your store.
I'll only shop here now if there's something very specific I researched online ahead of time. This time I ran in, got what I was coming for, and didn't do any window shopping since I didn't want to get a parking ticket.
Too bad too. Looked like they had a sale on expensive jackets. I'll go to Atmosphere outside of downtown instead.

β β β β β I just bought a road bike. Which I don't know hardly anything about it. As the frame is a steel but other components been upgraded.
The bike shop department have given me a free detailed instruction of here and there. Really good guy and with no cost. I purchased few things but, Ive noticed on a downfall. The price is on the high side

β β β β β Dropped my daughter s bike in for a new brake lever and got a phone call regarding the bike. 4 yrs old Mec Ghost. Apparently needs an overhaul, new transmission. Could cost 600 dollars.....
I asked what about the brake lever, oh didn't notice that. Advised the tech, Julia just need a brake lever, don't need the hard sale. 600 dollars fix for a bike which cost 800, it doesn't add up. Got my brake lever as requested. Never go back for a repair again. Great shop otherwise.

β β β β β MEC is one stop place for any outdoor requirements. Great staff with good knowledge and super helpful. They will spend time with you to understand what exactly you are looking for and offer their recommendations accordingly. From great sturdy backpacks to rafts to hiking/backpacking equipments, everything can be found here. They also store clothing for all purposes, mostly outdoor. Lots of variety and choices. Always a good experience visiting this store, never disappointed.

β β β β β In store customer service counter is horrendous. Every other person is amazing and efficient. I placed a pickup order online because it said it was available next day by 12:15. The email didn't come when it said it would though we needed the items before our trip the following day. Stopped in store and the guy said if I didn't get the email then customer service could check if it was in stock or had to still come from another store. Customer service told me if I didn't have an email they couldn't help me at all. Fortunately, Naomi looked them up and went to find them in the back. It took her 4 minutes. So I bought the items in store. I used chat to cancel my order where someone also named Naomi was quick and amazing. Why can't the customer service counter by as helpful as everyone else? They are always frustrating and rude. Huge shout out to Naomi who quickly looked them up, saw there was lots in back and grabbed them. She was incredible and should probably be the customer service manager.

β β β β β The store carries a wide variety of outdoor gear for the avid mountaineer. Super excited to see that they are always updating their supplies.
One downside is that everything tends to range on the over priced side and wait time can take a long time for service.
