Have been training at the Bur Oak location for four years, highly qualified Masters who are kind, understanding, and motivating. I consider myself lucky to have been trained by Master Mike and Master John, among other Masters. Amazing place, I’d truly recommend it!

Been training at Bur Oak location for about 4 years now and I highly recommend this place to anyone, kids or adults. Master Mike is a great teacher, he makes sure we are training hard but also have fun doing it! His sense of humor and creativity never ceases to amaze you.

Master John Huh is a very passionate coach and martial artist. For over 30 years he has been involved in developing both recreation grass roots programs as well as elite level provincial and national athletes. I highly recommend Markham Taekwondo Academy for any parent loooking to develop their children’s self control and discipline or seasoned athletes focused on improving their game. Definitely one of the most qualified instructors in the province, I highly recommend enrolling and finding out for yourself. As a coach and instructor Master John creates champions.

Warning: I am very picky when critiquing things, so 3 stars already means it's pretty good in my point of view. 5 stars would mean perfect or very close to perfect. It's really good but I wouldn't say its the best. The teachers there are really good and teach Taekwondo well, however some students may not be that good in terms of general behavior and respect. I'm judging this off of my personal experience and it may differ for everyone; I just think that they should focus more on teaching human morals and the tenets of Taekwondo on top of regular training. But then again, this can vary from the different classes. Markham Taekwondo Academy is really neat and tidy inside the building, however I would say that some areas like the changing rooms or the after school program room is a lot more untidy. I have been training here for a solid 7 years (more than half my life) before switching to this other Taekwondo school (I cannot say which Taekwondo school or the reason why I wanted to switch for legal-related purposes). This place is overall really good in terms of Taekwondo skill and teaching, and is just good in general. With some polishing, tidying, and a slightly different way of teaching, so that all classes from beginner to advanced will learn good human morals, this school would be the perfect Taekwondo school for those who want to learn Taekwondo. Now, I'm not saying anything about comparing this to other Taekwondo schools. Some Taekwondo schools out there may be as good as this one, while others may not. This is just my personal opinion. Finally, I shall tell you a quote I made that I like to dwell upon: It isn't the quality of the place that makes it special, but the community. You see, this place would be the perfect choice if they also taught other students respect, but as I have been disrespected by some of the younger students, I find not much need in going to MTA anymore. (This isn't the only reason why I switched schools. Again, I can't say fully why I left for legal-related purposes) So, to conclude, this place is not that far from being the best there is. I mean sure, in terms of skill, these people are Taekwondo Legend, but in terms of human moral, some others may not be the best. In my opinion, the best Taekwondo schools are the ones where every single person there is kind and inclusive, because the community is stronger than the skill. This school used to be good, but all the good people who made it top 1 in Canada left. I'm just writing the honest truth and my opinion, and not intending to disrespect this school in any way shape or form.
