On a cold January day I found my newest old friend at this unique home for animals. Nothing but love and caring for animals at this place. Seniors for Seniors. Great program.

A couple years ago my review would have been a 5 star for the warm compassion these people show animals. However, my experience today 2/15/18 has changed my opinion entirely. Im unsure as to the reason I was treated so poorly. Upon driving into this place I felt unwelcome. I found and rescued a sweet innocent cat outside a pizza place, I tried bringing the stray home because I love cats but my 10 month old puppy was clearly putting this sweet animal into distress, its clear he doesnt like dogs very much at all. I can see the character in this cat and acknowledge how sweet and lovable he is, I wanted to take him somewhere loving and welcoming, thinking this was the place to go was clearly wrong. My mother found a cat and took him here yesterday 2/14/18 and he was named Valentino. She was the one to recommend I take him to this place- assuming because of the great service she received once again from your shelter. I guess because Im a teenager I get treated differently- seems to be a regular for me. I drove up to your property to be greated by a blonde lady I remember from a few years back visiting with my mom. I explained we found a cat, and cant take care of him. She giggled and said Were trying to get rid of them not get more! So I said oh I know! (my mom mentioned yesterday she was informed there are approx. 350 cats here) She replied stating id have to speak with another woman whose name Im unable to recall. Short brown hair. At first I was asked if I called first, I said no I didnt think to. I asked if I should bring him in and she said "No will come out and speak with you". Then when the woman with brown hair approached my car, she followed with questions regarding where we(my boyfriend and I) found him. I explained the situation and how we caught him in a parking lot running in traffic. I was then asked "and who are you" twice from this woman, the manners and attitude of this conversation were a complete disaster which is where the unwelcomed feeling comes into play. "Well why didnt you think to take him to the Belleville shelter?" she says. Im so disappointed in this ladys behaviour. You are a shelter and I thought you would help take care of a stray animal that I cannot afford. I now have this poor cat disstressed roaming my house, confused and just looking for his family to love him. Im not even able to comfort this poor cat or be able to afford a kitty litter box, kitty litter, food, nothing to make this cat feel welcome in my home. My dog is stressed and excited wanting to play with this terrified animal. As if you questioned my presence at your shelter. I came to you with the expectation you cared about stray animals. However I now realize you would much rather have me take him somewhere that hes locked in a cage all day everyday. I left your parking lot angry, confused, and crying. You proceeded to knock on my window when I asked you to go away, and stand in front of my car as I tried to drive away? If you cared about animals why did you question as to who I am twice. My name is Aleisha, a young adult that is passionate about saving animals when she can. I refused to let this cat run in and out of busy traffic, and now I have no where to take him because every shelter has denied me. Shame on you for making someone feel so unwelcome and sad. All I was trying to do was taking him somewhere that would LOVE and appreciate him properly, because Im not able to keep him as much as I want to. Thank you for nothing.

My family and I were looking to add another pet to our family. We went here to find a cat, which we did. However, we found out later the facility (or the cats there at least) contains a feline virus which all or most of the cats will have once they've been there. Our cat is sick off and on with cold-like symptoms (coughing and sneezing). It started about 3 to 4 weeks after having him and we found out from our vet that this is something he'll have for life and will come and go. Speaking with this place about it (after the $100's in vet visits), they were aware of this and thought that he wasn't with them long enough to contract the virus. They were kind enough to give us some medication to try, which we did try but it would make his symptoms subside for about a month or so, then it would come back. He almost always has the cough, but most of the time he hardly coughs; similar to the snot flying sneezes...maybe every to 6 weeks it will get really bad for a few weeks.

They have new style displays for the cats. Bigger and self contained to avoid cross illness. Litter is now separated from living area within the cage. The sanitation procedures are diligent..and the staff work tirelessly behind the scenes.

What a truly wonderful place!!!The cats are so happy and well taken care of. They are not in cages and have so much room to roam and play. Warm cozy beds and a constant supply of food and fresh water. I can't say enough about this amazing shelter. As always donations of wet and dry food and cleaning supplies is always appreciated.

This place is so great at helping so many cats that need to have a safe and welcoming place . I absolutely love what they do for cats who have no where to go...And there are so many cats there , we've been there , the cats that I seen look so happy and content. I wish there were more places like this.

got a cat from the loyalist humane society about a year and a little bit ago (he’s in my profile picture) but the staff were/are amazing (we did book an appointment to come see the cats), they were very open to letting us see any cat we thought would thrive in our home, we ended up choosing Marley, he was diabetic and she gave us GREAT advice and showed us how to administer shots, and she was very patient the entire way! He now thrives in our house, gained a little bit of weight and is not diabetic anymore! I want to truly thank the loyalist humane society for letting me bring home my now best friend!! I attached some pictures of him!
