About LoSeCa Foundation

In 1987 a group of concerned parents and friends of persons with disabilities living in St. Albert met to discuss the future for their loved ones.  In 1988 a “Parent Task Force” was created and a survey was completed in order to define the need.  This new organization was initially called the “Grandin Residence Foundation”.  Once the Foundation’s Bylaws were created and adopted and a Board of Directors appointed the organization changed its name to the “LoSeCa Foundation”.  The name was significant to all of the Founding Members as it stands for Love-Service-Care.

The LoSeCa Foundation became a registered society, under the Society’s Act in 1992.  Soon after that, the Foundation applied for charitable status under the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.  LoSeCa Foundation received charitable status in 1992. The first community residence was opened and funded in 1992.  Day support options were first introduced in 1994 and have continued to evolve since then.

And now…

Today, The LoSeCa Foundation operates over twenty five community residences and offers a wide range of employment supports and community access options.  While the Foundation was begun in St. Albert and the head office continues to be in St. Albert, residential supports are now also offered in Edmonton.

The Foundation is driven by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of health care professionals, business people, parents, guardians and interested community members.  The Board of Directors employs an Executive Director to manage all operations. We also have over 200 amazing staff, many of whom have celebrated 10, 15, and 20 year anniversaries.

Beyond amazing staff with an even better program. Highly recommend the thrift shop for a great selection of reasonably priced secondhand goods. The best part is that all of those funds go right back into the program! Love it!

Extremely rude cashier today. She was upset that my purchase wasn't over $5 and tried not to let me pay debit. She then proceeded to mock me for driving 30 minutes to pick up the particular item that I purchased. There's nothing worse than a cashier trying to take out their pent up anger on an innocent customer.

This last Saturday was the worst experience ever... they would not acknowledge my husband medical exemption. The lady said he had to put a mask on no ifs ands or buts. Will never step foot into this thrift store again. That is ridiculous and should have never happened.

Best prices in the region on used clothing, etc. Everyone volunteers so the money really gets to help their program support those who's abilities are challenged.

Great finds at great prices. Extremely helpful staff members and a very comfortable ambiance. Where else can you get so much for so little and help so many? 10/10.

Well this was my first experience at this thrift store. I bought a CD there that were going for a dollar. One was a double CD but one of the cds was not in good condition. But I may have been able to touch it up to get working. So I told the lady, she took the CD out and threw it in the trash can. I said why did you do that? She took it out of the trash can and gave it back and still charged me two dollars for it. The other lady who was there with her just looked at her. I couldn’t get over how rude she was, I still even donated a buck. But I won’t be back there.

Tiny little store tucked away, next to a large warehouse. This is a mash up of a lot of clothes, shoes, handbags, books, toys and on and on! The ladies are so sweet and you can tell that they love being a part of Lo-Se-Ca Foundation. Everything is extremely reasonably priced and when I came they had a 50% off everything sale. Brand new pair of Columbia winter boots....for free! I paid for the other pair of shoes (equally almost brand new) and got the lesser Free!! Lots of parking. They have interesting hours, so check or call ahead.

Lots of good deals on just about anything. They give you a card and stamp it if you spend $10.00 when you get 10 stamps you get $10.00 off your purchase. They have 1/2 price sales all the time.
