Kitson's Service Station Ltd - Portage la Prairie

I needed a tow because I went off the dirt/gravel road and got caught up on hard pack snow. Staff on the phone was very good, however they claim they don't do dirt roads. I get it you can't trust everyone's judgement on road conditions , but I know the roads and assured them their truck would not have any issues. A grader had no issues. I pay for a service and it's upsetting to be left stranded

This was the absolute worst towing experience of my life. My car broke down on the Trans Canada highway in blizzard-like conditions and -42 windchill. We called and relayed our situation saying we had two dogs traveling with us and they could not be left alone. The lady on the phone said this was fine. When the tow truck driver arrived he said the dogs (two small pugs, one is a puppy) would have to be left alone in the car because the owner is allergic to dogs. The tow truck driver was unwilling to make any other accommodation. I said I would have to get back in the car and discuss with my partner. While we sat there the tow truck driver just drove off. What kind of human being leaves people stranded on the side of the road with blowing snow and -42 windchill? A disgusting person. My partner called Kitsons back and the lady said she wasn't paying attention when we mentioned the dogs. This is a terrible business. If you ever get stranded and need a tow near Portage La Prairie choose anybody but Kitsons.

THEY SAVED OUR LIVES! My mom, me and my husband were travelling westbound, west of Elie during the blizzard / white out that happened on Highway 1 towards Portage La Prairie when we hit a 5 foot snow drift on the right lane; the drift covered our car and consumed it with snow; we were driving a white car in a whiteout, in a massive snow drift and oncoming traffic was coming at us; we were stuck for 2 hours on the highway sitting waiting to be hit by oncoming semi’s, trucks and cars because no one could see us. We called the stonewall rcmp and we’re basically told to die, she told us she would not be sending anyone to help us and that we had to get out of our car and dig ourselves out and that no tow trucks would be helping us. We tried explaining to her that we were completely trapped, the snow was compacted around the entire car and we had no escape point out of the vehicle, so we could not get out at all. She didn’t care, she said that it was entirely our fault and that we would have to figure out a way to not die. We called CAA and we had this company dispatched; they came to our rescue quickly and towed us out and one of the men that helped us was standing in middle of highway in the whiteout ensuring that no cars would hit us. The one tow truck allowed us to follow him on highway towards portage and safety. We will be forever grateful for all that you did for us. We were hopeless in that moment and when each car/semi/truck passed us it felt like we were sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for death. You guys are incredibly amazing and we are so thankful. We look at the situation like this: we were told by the cop that no one was going to rescue us and we were left for dead and God sent two amazing men, two tow trucks and safety to get us off the highway and into town. I’m from Winnipeg iPhoned this service to have a forklift moved from Portage Laprairie to Winnipeg the lady I spoke to was very nice on the phone she reassured me that this is something that they do all the time and it wouldn’t be a problem I called on Mother’s Day and I told her that I would be calling back during the week if I did purchase the small sized forklift for my business from plp it was a good experience dealing with this business as they were easy to get a hold and friendly I recommend others to call the service if they need flat deck service
