★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I received a wash, cut and style from Hana Dalton at the Oak Bay location and I would highly recommend to a friend! Hana was welcoming, easy to talk to and intuitive. She was able to articulate what I was looking for and cut just enough to bring my ends back to life! The salon was really clean, well organized and I felt comfortable the whole time. 10/10 experience. Thank you Hana!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recently tried Kharma in Oak bay and had a confusing and disappointing experience.
Apart from having 8inches of my hair cut off instead of the 4-5 instructed, my hair is now brown. I called the salon after a weekend of internal blame and nicely let them know I wasn’t happy with the results, I then sent an email at the end of next day with some photos so they could see what I was seeing. My before hair: dirty blond with highlights. My inspiration:a golden honey. What I got: armpit length brown hair.
The response I received in summary was: it looks like what you asked for and will lighten with time. Ps sorry it’s short.
So is it all in my head? See for yourself.
Please see the photo for what I wanted (the golden) versus what I got. Oh and one picture is outside in case your worried about lighting ?
I didn’t want to make this review, I was hoping things would be sorted out, but unfortunately In this case the salon decided I was wrong about my own feelings.

Also love how they post same day available bookings on Instagram. I am terrible at planning and this was a great tool as I felt like coming in for a cut on a whim!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Update: upon seeing this review, the salon contacted me and apologized for not explaining / disclosing the extra surcharge of having thick / extra long hair to me before the haircut and offered to refund me the surcharge amount. I appreciate how prompt the salon was with their response to my review and willingness to work with me for a satisfactory solution.
Overall satisfied with my haircut from Aliah, but absolutely *ridiculous* price for a simple haircut (just getting the split ends taken off and simple layers put in), wash, and blowdry ($99 before the tip). An extra fee was added for having "extra long hair", which is pretty ridiculous considering that the haircut still took slightly under an hour and I had also warned the salon that I had thick, long hair, and this fee was not explained to me at all, just briefly mentioned to me upon payment. Echoing a lot of the other reviews here, be sure to call the salon beforehand to know exactly how much each service will cost so that you don't get blindsided like I did (or just go to one of the many other salons around the city who won't charge $100 for a simple haircut).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The professionals at Kharma are open-minded, kind and sweet. I appreciate being really heard by them. Over and over again they have done a wonderful job on my hair, and the one time I felt the layers needed a little bit more blending, they immediately bent over backward to make sure I was happy. I cannot say enough positive things about Kharma Oak Bay. I recommended them to my mother so you know that is saying a lot. Maureen is magic! Edited for spelling

Their front desk team is so friendly and welcoming and their staff does impeccable work. The vibe in the shop is always fun and upbeat and I have a blast every time. I highly recommend them.
