One of the newer additions to the omakase scene in the GTA. Kaito offers 12 course omakase for $65 per person, probably one of the best value omakase I've had in a long while. I went to Tokyo white beer which has a light yuzu/citrus taste, that was refreshing and went well with the sushi. They offered ginger for you to cleanse your palette between the sushi. Last night we had (sorry couldn't fit all with the 10 photo limit): Bonito fish appetizer, scallop, seabream, seabass, hamachi, kanpachi, toro, smoked salmon (this one was bomb), kachi, ikura, sea eel and handroll (mixed with tuna, salmon and white fish). They offer 7 people per seating and did a great job with separating different parties. Such a great experience, would definitely return!

Hands down one of the best Omakase. The chef interacts during dinner and makes the experience fun. The atmosphere is down to earth as if you were in someone’s home kitchen. Add this spot to your must try list because you can’t beat the price and experience!

For $65 you really can’t go wrong. The selection is fresh and well thought out, and is a great intro to omakase. The eel is the best I’ve ever had. Kaito Sushi removes the frills and focuses on the quality of the food. The decor is simple and the setting is very intimate.

As a Vancouverite, I have a personal favorite omakase restaurant in Vancity but I would say this place is so far my favorite one in Toronto. I wasn't expecting much for the starter that usually comes with omakase but I definitely have to mention this one. I believe it was called ankimo, liver if a fish. It was warm and tasted like foie gras and after researching it, it turned that this was known as the ocean version of foie. As for the main sushi, all of them were very tasteful, but my favorite was Hamachi. Once all was served, we asked the chef for a recommendation for tonight and he offered masago that was prepared with yuzu sauce. Even the additional sushi tasted good. I would have to visit again next time I'm in Toronto.

First off, this was my first Omakase experience, so I do not have another Omakase to compare to. However, it was overall a pleasant experience. For $66.00 plus applicable tax, at the time of my visit, you get about twelve dishes over the course of 35 minutes. Then, you can get optional $8.00 and/or $15.00 dishes in the end. Considering that many All-You-Can-Eat places are around $30.00 per person even during the evenings, the pricing is quite steep, but it is an entirely different experience. For one, a highly-trained professional chef, instead of a part-timer, is making your sushi right in front you. Also, the types and the quality of the fish are very different. As a result, I found it to be worth the time and money to try it, at least once, if you have never tried Omakase before. If you are an expert, I’m pretty sure this place won’t cut it, since many other Omakase places are easily triple or quadruple the price per person. The chef seemed to be big on educating people about Omakase, which according to him was the reason why he offers it at such an β€œaffordable” price. So, again, it was an educational and unique experience for someone like me, who have never had Omakase before. Still, there were some downsides. For one, the chef stares you down after he passes you a sushi, and it can be a little uncomfortable for some. Next, the chef is the only one working there, so he is the one serving you drinks at the same time he is making your sushi.

We were the only ones at the restuarant at the time so it was like having a private chef. The fish was fresh but he mostly used fish you could order at a regular sushi joint. The tuna hand roll at the end tasted like a tuna sandwich but rolled in rice. Overall okay food but the experience includes also having someone make the food in front of you.

Wouldn't return, but worth trying. A fun little experience, and an inexpensive way to enter omakase. I do feel a little baited as photos as of 2021 make the nigiri far larger than they actually are, plus $100pp after tax/tip/drink tips it into less accessible territory. For those who have been to other higher end Omakase either in Toronto, Vancouver or Japan, be nice and keep in mind the price point offered at $69.5. That's all I'll say. For those thinking about a cosy, intimate atmosphere, where you can interact with your chef and enjoy the evening - go ahead and book without hesitation. I think this is a fantastic idea and want to see more of these places. There is delight in some slightly different offerings, including house smoked salmon and firefly squid, as well as traditional pieces like Akami/Otoro. Seats 6, doesn't take AMEX.

Amazing!! The sushi was very tasty and fresh (we ended up ordering more after our set menu was done) chef was very friendly and overall a wonderful experience. Will definitely come back! Also, some reviews mentioned how the restaurant had a smell etc - not at all! The restaurant was very clean and pleasant to be in! Highly recommend.
