Have done one engine swap .1 transmission and clutch on 2 different cars at this shop. The owner (Yoshio) is very experienced with Japanese cars. Its been over 1 year and all the cars run great. Very helpful and cost effective.

Fair price and easy to deal with Yoshio (owner). His years of experience with Japanese cars shows. Quality and timely installation of RSR lowering springs on my Lexus RC F. Highly recommend! EDIT: Got my IS done too in 2017. Very pleased yet again!

I am not one to write reviews, but all I can say is wow. Took my car in for a slight misfire at idle. Yoshio stated that the fuel pump and timing belt were faulty. This was surprising to me as both parts were recently changed (genuine walbro pump and new timing belt). He stated that my timing belt had jumped, but did not show me any proof of it. That threw some redflags off immediately but I proceeded to let him do the job based on his reputation. We agreed $1700 for the timing belt, tensioner, and fuel pump. He began work on a Monday. He told me that the car would be ready on Friday. Thursday, I called him a total of 6 times to arrange pickup the next day, with no answer. After calling him from a different number, he picked up and said car will be ready at 12:00. On Friday I went down to pick up my car with a buddy of mine who is a certified mechanic. Yoshio brought me in his office, and somehow the original quote of $1700 had jumped to nearly $2400! He had not notified me about any additional work, etc. When we called him out on it, he knew he was clearly in the wrong. Here is where it gets truly concerning. Me and my buddy leave his shop, and go start the car, and it had the exact same problem! The doors for the shop were now locked. We decided to take it on the chin, and drive the car home. On the way home, the vehicle lost power on the middle of the highway. We managed to pull it over, and seen loose connections and hoses. We reconnected them, and drove it back home. The vehicle now has a noticeable clunk in the engine bay when accelerating or decelerating from an improperly reinstalled mount he removed to do timing belt. It can be noted that no core fuel pump was returned, and I highly doubt he changed it. And to be honest, car runs worse than when I originally gave it to him. To recap: Gouged me on the price Poor communication Caused more mechanical issues Didn’t fix the issue the car was brought in for. I’ve dealt with some shady mechanics in my days, but this here was truly a β€œspecial” experience. I brought the car here because he is supposed to be a β€œlegend” and master of japanese imports. Instead, parts were thrown at the vehicle in hopes that the problem would disappear. Parts that I had replaced already within the last month. I would have looked past the price gouging, if my problem was actually solved. This was my most negative experience ever with a shop. Such a shame. I strongly urge my fellow Japanese car owners to find another shop.

I was looking for an expert mechanic who knew Japanese cars to work on my "new" Toyota MR2. I explained that I had just bought this car with 38K miles on it and wanted someone to give it a good inspection, including a road test, so there would be no surprises. I dropped the car off, freshly washed and waxed and went through the car with Yoshio, including taking pictures of the car condition. I got a call recommending a transmission flush, brake fluid flush, oil change and new transmission. I asked about the brake measurements and condition of fluids, and found that there was no information on the brake wear. I proceeded with the oil change and transmission flush. When I arrived to pick up the car, I did an inspection and noticed several things. It looked like the car was driven in the rain or wet, and there was now a 24" rub mark down the side of the car that was immediately visible. When I showed Yoshio the damage to the car, he agreed that the car was damaged after I dropped it off at his shop. He couldn't remove it, and then spent 15-minutes explaining that even though the car was in his custody for the whole time, it wasn't his fault and and my insurance would have to pay for it. I suggested taking $75 off the $300 bill would be reasonable for him, and although it would cost me more to repair, I felt in times of Covid, this would be an easy solution. Apparently there was no appreciation of customer service, doing the right thing, or responsibility, as I was turned down. I was upset enough at picking up my car with damage, that I just paid the bill and left. At the end of the day, there was no inspection on the car, I have no idea about brake or tire wear, there is no detail about the fluids that were used (synthetic or mineral?). I was looking for a mechanic that I could build a relationship with and was prepared to spend my money with, so I could maintain my car. Unfortunately what I got was an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience that I wish had never occurred.
