Ismaili Centre Vancouver

First ever Ismaili Centre built by His Highness the Aga Khan. Spectacular building with fine details for the building completed in 1985. Must visit!

Ismaili Centre & Mosque is our place of prayers. It is beautiful & breath taking with its stylish Islamic architecture, the wonderful & lushas gardens, and let's not forget the fountains that make you feel at peace with the sounds of flowing water. This is all just in the foya. Than we approach the main entrance to the Centre, breath taking Islamic artistry from the Dome shape cover, with bright lights arranged inside a Bras circle, Octagon shapes running on the pavements of the nice foya, to the entrance of the Centre all the way in to the prayer hall, on the side walls, the soft & expensive carpets through out the entire building all have the Octagon shapes everywhere your eyes go.To those who don't understand why the Octagon shape, well the Circle signifies religion & the Square signifies science. That is part of the Islamic design. Getting back to the entrance, as we embark to the inside, before going in, first you open the 2 heavy, shinny, solid Oak doors with Octagons carved on the entire surface of the doors, & Solid Bras Vertical handles right at the center to make opening the door easy. On both sides of the Entrance Door lay smaller doors for secondary entrance into the building. All the glass between the main door & the side doors are designed with Islamic patterns in dark red or some may see it as burgundy colour patterns in dots & vertical lines. When inside it is so Serene, so peaceful, quite I always feel like just closing my eyes & being one with the Almighty. Leave all my tensions, all my stress with Allah to take them away & free me from worldly hassles. When I am in prayers nothing fazes me. I'm at peace, with no worries. Actually for us Ismaili Muslims the Ismaili Centre is a Jamat Khana - meaning Ali's home. Hazrat Ali is our 1st Imam & the 4th Kalif. Prince Karim Aga Khan the 49th Ismaili Imam (religious leader) is a direct descendant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sws). The Ismaili Centre & Jamat Khana is a unique place to visit weather one is Ismaili Muslim faith or another faith. You too will feel at peace once you enter this religious space. Before I forget, this present year is a special time as it is the 35yr Anniversary to the date the foundation stone was laid by the Age Khan for the Ismaili Centre & Mosque. Enjoy??????❤❤❤

Beautiful place. It is NOT a mosque, but a "Jamatkhana" or prayer house for the Shia Imami Ismailis.

A home for Ismaili Muslims.. It's beautiful and spiritual place ..

It is not a MOSQUE!! Just agreat building however. Employee told me I won’t be able to pray because it is a different kind of a mosque. Disappointing.

Very sereen,very beautiful, very very peaceful.Once you enter, I personally feel all my problems have been lifted off my head, I have no tension, no stress, no hateraid, absolutely no feelings of jealousy, nothing. My heart feels relieved, my soul feels free & my body feels like it is just flying in the air like an Angel.
