i’ll be honest - i have absolutely no idea what the… culture… of the cultural centre is like. what i do know, though, is that a) it is a very useful place to go during covid times for shots b) the date squares are exquisite c) the Fresh Roots program from David Thompson has a vegetable stand, the items bought from which make a good salad, stew, or pretty much anything else.

I went to this location to get my covid vaccine and I was impressed how they were organise and how easy it was to get in and out in a short time. It was simple to book my appointment and the staff helped me with the online registration.

While I was the Italian Centre getting a vaccine shot, I noticed the kitchen had a sign for lasagna. I purchased their freshly made lasagna and it was delicious. We used to buy from a competitor but since dining on the lasagna from the Centre, we only buy from one place now, and it's the Italian Centre! We recommend to all friends and relatives.

Autistic perspective: We went here for all three vaccines and were treated with so much care and compassion. When I told them I have needle phobia and that there was a lot going on for my autistic brain with all the people, they took me to a special area in the back to get vaccinated where it was more quiet. They gave me time to breathe and prepare, asked me how they could do the vaccine for more coziness, and one time I had a nurse who specialized in needle phobia that they brought in to help. It was completely painless and they helped me to feel entirely safe and looked after when it was done too. Todays booster was incredibly easy and they encouraged me to take my time before leaving and to lie down to rest afterwards on the cot. I cannot express enough how much gratitude I have for all the staff there and how lovingly they are doing this work.

Third dose @ Vaccination Site 1. There were too many employees standing outside. The whole time we lined up, which was 40 minutes because seniors & kids gets priority, 2 employees were just standing beside each other chatting. Why are they there? 2. The line up inside the centre (that used to be where the seats are) were unnecessarily crowded. We could have stood outside the whole time. What's the difference between standing outside for 40 minutes or 55 minutes? How exactly is the line up any different from a 20 people party with mask on except we're all from different families and everyone is crowed with about a 0.3m distance with 4 people (1 behind, 1 in front, 2 beside you). What's the point of the very socially distanced seats in the gym when we've been exposed to one another 15 minutes ago in the indoor queue? 3. In addition to Seniors and Juniors getting priority (which is fine, though I do question the utility reason for kids getting priority), I witnessed an employee there waved in some 25 year old girl over to beat the line. Didn't know we could do that, or else I would have buddy-buddy up with an employee there and get that same priority access. Other than that list of reasons, the people administering the vaccine shots and registering you have been consistently great.

The Italian Cultural Centre provides a special location in Vancouver to celebrate a wide variety of community and cultural events…there is a museum and art gallery, a wide variety of classes, and quite a large parking lot….we were here today to receive our Covid-19 booster shot and stayed for coffee and a sandwich…all Covid-19 protocols are followed..

We went there last Saturday for our booster shot. We were given a choice. Pfizer or Moderno. That was nice. Most of the people working there were very professional and friendly. Everyone was well behaved. They did really well with the kids. After the shot you’re supposed to stick around for 15 minutes and you know how difficult that can be with kids so they had them do art and write their comments on post it notes and they had boards that you would stick them on. It was very artistically done. We were asked not to take pictures so I respected that. On another note. We did a very little bit of exploring and I was totally blown away by the amazing talented people we have here that were displaying some of their works of art in exhibit area. Then there were the wagons from Sicily and the great looking food. I’ll definitely be back to pick up some of that lasagna for me and Garfield ! There was a lot more to see and explore. Like a good Italian wine you don’t gulp it down. Just sip it slowly and enjoy.
