This is the best dim sum I've found in Ottawa, and has been consistently good every time I've gone. The staff there work so hard and fast and still always have nice words and a smile for us every time. Highly recommended!

20211230 We must have ordered 10+ dim-sum dishes & were completely full with left-overs to take home. Service & price were both good. If you drive, arrive early as there are less than 10 parking spots reserved for Hung Sum. There are street parking in the neighbourhood though. Highly recommended!!

2+hrs, 60% of order. Staff were clueless about the wait. We had to tell them there were open tables before getting seated. 45mins after ordering, the food started trickling in one dish at a time over the next hour. Periodically the server would come over to the table and tell us certain things were not available. The food we did get was good but definitely not worth the wait. We ended up canceling the remainder of our order after over 2 hours as we were told the cook hadn't started preparing it. Dim Sum is a traditional Chinese cuisine that is supposed to be quick.....there was nothing quick about our experience. Definitely won't recommend or be back.

Great a la carte experience for dim sum in Ottawa. Lots of classic dim sum options. They didn’t have any chicken feet when we went which was a bummer. Dishes are hot and taste fresh. Their turnip cake and deep fried tofu stuffed with shrimp are 10/10! Service was friendly and efficient. They respect COVID precautions which was re-assuring.

Dine in experience during covid times. SERVICE!SERVICE!SERVICE! Really can't say enough about how great the staff is at Hung Sum restuarant. A quaint little restaurant with a very welcoming atmosphere that feels traditional but not outdated. A wide variety of dishes sorted in an easy to grasp manner. With a delicious mix of unique dishes and classics. You will not regret trying their taro dumplings, their absolutely delicious sticky rice in lotus leaf and for desert their sesame balls with red bean paste. Outstanding!

2pm arrival, half full restaurant, 20 mins to get seated, 1 hr until the first dish came out. I've never experienced this level of slow service. 1 server for the restaurant, she did everything and tried very hard and was pleasant. The only good dish was the Cantonese shrimp dumpling. Stuffed green pepper was ok, insufficient sauce and not flavourful. Stuffed eggplant pieces were tiny, dry with very little and flavourless sauce. Deep fried stuffed tofu was flavourless. Chicken feet skin was tough and flavourless. Tofu skin rolls had no flavor. Beef in rice wraps were cold, flavourless sauce, and way too thick and not at all delicate. Cantonese noodles with bean sprout were cold. Lotus leaf stuffed with rice was flavourless. So disappointing. Unfortunately the food at this restaurant doesn't hold a candle in flavour to Jadeland, Yangtze or Yimin. We just wanted a decent dim sum but it was not to be had here. Save your money and time and eat elsewhere.

One of the rare dim sum restaurants that makes all of their dishes from scratch (even the classic fried flat noodle dish - you may be familiar with the 'Beef fried flat noodle dish offered in many Chinese take-out). They started in the first floor of a single family dwelling roughly a decade or so ago and have moved to a proper restaurant building to accommodate more clients. Come early for the wait is long due to not only many customers but the dishes themselves are made from scratch and brought fresh right away from their steamers. Dim-sum was always a weaker offering compared to Toronto but the availability of 'freshly created' dishes definitely gives it the edge. It'd be hard to find a place that doesn't offer pre-made dim sum dishes that are simply frozen goods placed in a steamer. Only negative is the long wait times but given the adage 'great things come to those who wait' has never been truer!

Recommended by friends, i came for dim sum at this place. First impression, it is pretty busy for a weekday lunch time. Tastes of dim sum are quiet different since they are all homemade explained by the owner. Years ago, many restaurants made their dim sum, but now dim sum are pre-made by big suppliers. It is good to taste homemade stuff...
