My kids and I got hair cuts at the West 85th location. Absolutely terrible. All of us have uneven and choppy patches. The styles are terrible. Couldn't be worse. We went here once before and also had a bad experience, but we always like to give local shops a second shot. We won't be back.

I'm not one to write reviews, but I have NEVER been this disappointed with service + management before. On the last day before the recent three-week lockdown in the Calgary, I called into this location to see what time would be best for the staff to do 2 haircuts and was advised to arrive at 4:30PM (FYI: they had a 5PM close). Despite arriving at 4:30 sharp we weren’t taken to get our cuts until 4:40PM. Both the ladies SPED through our haircuts, barely listening to the guidance we gave them on the looks we wanted, and were both more concerned about leaving the location by 5 PM than actually doing the haircuts well - despite having told us to arrive at 4:30PM in the first place. Why not tell us to come earlier if 30 minutes wouldn't be enough? When we were told the haircuts were done and that they needed to close the store, we paid and left, but were both incredibly unsatisfied with our haircuts. The next day (the first day of the lockdown) I called the location to ask when we can come in for them to fix our haircuts post-lockdown, but nobody was in the location to pick up the phone, and since they don't have a voicemail system, I couldn't leave a voicemail. There was no additional number to contact for management (remember this fact!). I even checked the website to see if there was a management number to call for the location, but there wasn’t. At this point, I realized that the most effective course of action would be to call in the first day they reopen (June 1st), and so I do. On June 1st, I speak to the lady on the phone and describe the situation, to which she is tells us to come in for them to make any adjustments desired. I make sure to let her know we won't be able to make it in this week as myself and the other individual will both be working until 10 PM every day, but that we can come in the following week, to which she says it won't be an issue and to just let the team know that I've spoken to her when I come in. Here's where it gets ridiculous. Today, on June 11th (the first day that the 2 of us are able to head into the location) I arrive and let them know that I've already spoken to someone on the team who said to come in. The woman at cash tells me that she isn't sure that they can actually make any adjustments because it has been longer than the one-week threshold they provide for adjustments, but that she will speak to management. She calls management who tells her that they won't be able to make any changes despite us being told it would be fine. The lady vouches for us saying that it wouldn't be an issue for the team to do the haircut since NO ONE was in store, at which point the man from management asks for my and the person I was with’s names (why??) and then says he won’t make an exception. I ask if there is an upper management number I can call to speak to someone after-the-fact, and during this conversation management calls back and the woman at cash hands me the phone to speak to the man directly. I explain the situation to him and he passes the blame onto me, saying that I should've called the management number that is on the voice mail of the location over lockdown, but as previously mentioned, there was no voice mail system AT ALL, NOR any recording or website info with a number to call! He says that the best they can do is charge us for a trim (which he said the team would do in 10 minutes/person) instead of a full haircut, but we also didn't want the team to do another poor job if they were limited to 10 minutes/haircut as imposed by management + it didn't make any sense for us to pay when told previously it would be fine. I'm all for giving franchisees a second chance, but management at this franchise is beyond subpar. They've lost two customers from this ordeal that could've been easily dealt with by simply being flexible and understanding + if anyone ever asks us for a haircut recommendation, we’ll be sure to say to not visit this location as we wouldn't want them to have the bad experience we did.

Unskilled and unprofessional. Came here for a hair cut. The first lady cut my hair very poorly. The manager came to save the day but by the end of the ordeal I was left with a buzzcut. I went for a trim. After this haircut, the manager charged me for the cut, even though I had to walk out of that place bald. This place is garbage

This place is horrible. The owners are beyond rude and sketchy and do not treat their staff well. They push people through like farm animals. How can you give someone a haircut in less than 15 min? Sweat shop for hair cuts those girls working in there never get a break. Do not support this place with cheap owners who don’t even allow you to have a decent haircut if you wanted it because after 15 min next gotta do 30 haircuts a day per stylist.

I'm normally ok with the quality of this place as it is pretty cheap. However my last experience was terrible. My stylist was Sarah/Sara, she was nice enough but made me feel terrible when she noticed I had dead ends at the back of my hair. She says "Oh, is there a reason why it's so short at the back?" (she said this really accusingly) The haircut was the absolute WORST I have ever gotten. It's SO uneven and Sarah/Sara said that it was a tiny bit uneven but no one would notice. She didn't even trim all my hair like I asked, instead just left the front as long as it was before. The only reason why I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because it was cheap and at least the stylist wasn't rude (except for making me feel bad about my dead ends.)

I just happen to get the most horrible haircut at the Westhill 8th salon. I asked the hairdresser to cut an inch, she cut more than, crooked, and left straggly uneven hair. It's the most depressing day when I got home and looked at the mirror. Lesson learned. Don't let these hairdressers practice on your hair.

I am proud to announce my association with Great Clips (TM). It’s not like a sponsor or anything but I do regularly come here with my boys. I find the service professional, the workers are friendly and the local radio station plays softly in the background with mostly fire tracks.

Sometimes it's good, sometimes not so much. But everybody is really nice and the place seems clean all the time.
