โ โ โ โ โ I can't speak about the quality of the job because I haven't yet put much use into the fix, but the service was very poor. Instead of taking 5 days to repair the hiking boots, she left for several weeks of vacation without notifying me the boots were ready, which left me 5 weeks without hiking boots in the middle of summer. And her not answering the phone. When I was finally called back and I came to get them, she was barely apologetic and didn't offer a discount or anything. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere next time.

โ โ โ โ โ I started coming to Gold Star with my mother when it was still located at Dunbar & 26th Ave. That was many, many years ago, so it isn't surprising that it has changed ownership and location since then. Reza and Payam continue the tradition of 'old world' workmanship and have done an excellent job of maintaining & repairing my family's shoes. Also, if I buy leather-soled shoes, I try to buy good quality and have them soled with rubber (e.g. TOPY Elisee are probably the best known) before wearing them. If the sole & the heel continue to be maintained, one can basically wear the shoe forever (or at least until the uppers wear out!). Reza and his nephew Payam are also very friendly and service-oriented. Definitely recommend.

โ โ โ โ โ Brought my boots in because the heel was falling off so they fixed that and gave me new soles. It looks like a good job, they polished the boots and it was a reasonable cost. I dropped them off Sunday and they weren't ready until Thursday but not sure how typical a wait time like that is. Overall, I'd recommend. Friendly owner.

โ โ โ โ โ Had some rock climbing shoes resoled by them and they did a very good job. I've waited a few months before reviewing to test them out and they are performing great. No delamination problems, edge is very well placed and defined, no excess glue, consistent rubber quality and performance (climbed many slabs and cracks with them). The price after tax ended up being $62 CAD which I felt was more than I wanted to pay, but they are in an expensive location and will have to pay rent too. If you want your shoes done locally in Vancouver and can afford the 62 bucks they will do an excellent job. 5/5 shoe job. Thank you for the work.

โ โ โ โ โ This place is great! I've had many pairs of climbing shoes repaired or resoled here at Gold Star over the years. Most recently notable are my trusty TC pro's. They still fit and feel like new, and now I've got 5.10 stealth rubber! Bring on the slab run-outs!
The key is to get them resoled before the rand pokes through; around 15% life remaining.

โ โ โ โ โ Payan did a fabulous job replacing a speed hook on my boot as well as polishing them both to look just as good as they did when I bought them brand new, if not better! Fair price, high quality work, and friendly service, I'm glad I took my Thursday Boots here!
