About Forest The Canoe
Service Description
Learn the basics of paddling with your guide before taking off to explore Lake Superior’s crystal-clear waters and rugged rocky shoreline. If you are an experienced paddler, then lets get right to it and paddle on! Your interpretive guide will share their knowledge about the local history, culture, and ecology as you experience the coastal shoreline of the infamous Inland Sea. “We can’t always ask for good weather, but we can always ask for good judgement”. If conditions permit, tours will launch from Forest The Canoe’s basecamp location in Goulais River. Alternate locations include Goulais Bay or other inland lakes and rivers in the Goulais River/Sault Ste Marie area, please let us know if you are interested in a specific location. Additional costs may be required for alternate locations. $150 + tax per Adult and $120 + tax per Youth (16 and under) *Minimum 2 adults for tour Includes: Lunch, Interpretive Guide, Paddling Gear and Canoe Rental *Minimum 48-hour cancellation policy to receive full deposit refund *Deposit = $150; waiver to be signed prior to departure

With your safety being priority you can trust Ryan and Shana in the bush/wilderness, they are both trained interpretive guides that can design a custom trip based upon what you want to see and experience. Do not hesitate to inquire about any type of trip...week long, day long, AM, PM they can be very accommodating based upon your comfort level and what you'd like to experience. A 5* experience when with the Walkerbottoms. They are friendly, amazing, easygoing people that will have a client centered/first approach. Go out and explore Ontario.

They are good humoured and very knowledgeable about our Algoma district, as well as tree and animal species. They took great care and provided any equipment we needed and delicious home baked snacks. Shanna and Ryan provided our group with a night of fun, exploring and educating us about the trails and wildlife that surround our community. Not only did we learn a lot, but they also provided us with delicious snacks and beverages once we arrived at the top. Their love for nature and friendly personality makes this experience one to remember. Ryan and Shanna are patient, helpful, and humble. I highly recommend you join this adventurous couple. You will have the time of your life!!

Using his canoe, my mom and I were able to get some great shots of the pictographs, and even look at some that you can't see from the hiking trail.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My friend and I hired Forest the Canoe to take us on our first ever winter camping trip, and it was AMAZING! Shana and Ryan took care of every detail and curated an epic four day, three night adventure in the backcountry. We met with them (by phone) three times before the trip to plan activities and logistics. They provided top quality gear (including snowshoes and a hot tent with stove!) and prepared delicious meals that kept us fueled for adventure - as a vegetarian who loves good coffee, this is very important to me :) They were thorough with safety protocols, provided airport transfers, and even took us ice fishing! Ryan was an amazing interpretive guide who taught us how to identify trees and animal tracks, how to tie (proper) knots, and how to start a fire with char cloth and a ferro rod! Shana and Ryan also took us out onto Lake Superior to explore ice formations! To say it was the camping trip of a lifetime would be an understatement. ?
