Worth the drive for a fun experience. It's not often you get a chance to watch a film in a really classic style theatre. Prices are good too. Even factoring in gas money to get there, it was still less expensive to watch a movie and get snacks.

Beautiful old theater. The production of Matilda was very well done. Actors were all volunteers. The effort they put into it was marvelous. All those children were beautiful and sang their hearts out.

In Southern Alberta this is a one of a kind venue to enjoy live music, and it has been beautifully maintained since built in 1912. That said, the seat placement and size are historic, by which I mean not plus size or tall person friendly.

This is a beautiful theatre. the service here is great, everybody is friendly and welcomes you with a smile. they have live plays and movies as well, the price for a movie was $7 and I have already plans to come back and watch a play. I highly recommend this place, its a good experience.

Historic, beautiful place. Great place for plays and musical events. Cheap movies. The seats aren't that comfortable and there is a line in the middle of the screen which is noticeable in certain scenes. Price makes up for it. They say the green room is haunted. Spooky.

We've been wanting to see a show at the historic Empress Theatre for some time and were not disappointed. What an Alberta gem! The staff/volunteers were bend-over-backward friendly and helpful, and we loved the show, a tribute to Ian Tyson's music. I agree with a previous reviewer that the seats aren't very comfortable but I'm thinking they're a lot better than the samples of precious seats on display down in the green room. ? Even though the same show was playing in nearby Calgary, it was worth the 2-hour drive to see it at The Empress. We'll be back!

Excellent sound system in the Empress. A friendly venue with great theatre popcorn and they usually operate a bar for concerts.
