Dr Nails Studio - Calgary

The first time they do my nails was amazing thats why I came back but today I did my mani and pedi spa and I was not very happy with the experience and result. The lady left a lot of cuticles and dead skin on my toes and left THREE cuts on my fingers.

Never a good experience here this is why I stopped coming. Every fill is always a different price (even though I get the same thing everytime) they will hike the price up and and be sly about it. If you have a broken nail (at the time of a fill) they WILL charge u to replace one nail, and like 5$ too it’s sickening; and they do a terrible job. They also charge you if you want to change your shape! Which should already be included in the fill since your already paying them so much. Nails always come out uneven, thick, and the nail polish is applied on super sloppy it looks like I did my nails myself. Not pleased with this place their customer service is not the best. I would stay away from this joint.... unless you want to get ripped off and have sloppy nails.

I've been going to see Betty for years, she's amazing at her craft! Haven't really dealt with the other staff except for the odd pedicure, which they take their time with and provide a good massage. The salon is usually busy and the staff is always in pleasant spirits.

I moved to the Huntington area from Acadia recently and needed a new nail salon, I have been to this salon 3 times. The first time my nails were done excellently, the second time I went in for a fill and the job done was just horrendous. My nails started chipping all along the sides and lifting days after they were done. One even cracked from the side right through the middle of my nail. I went in for another fill and Kim, the lady doing my nails, admitted several times how poorly they had been done the last time, asked me which chair I had sat in, presumably to determine who had done such a shoddy job.. Then because of her broken English there was some miscommunication, she told me a new full set would be $55, and she said "and $15 off." I thought she meant she was knocking off $15 for a new set because of how poorly they had been done before, which ABSOLUTELY should have been the case. I should never have had to have them taken off to start over. Turns out, she meant it would be $55 for a new set PLUS $15 to take them off. I should also mention she had said this about halfway through taking them off.. The manner in which she removed them was awful. She literally tore them off my nails. They are super tender now, and from almost 15 years experience getting my nails done, that is NOT how you remove gel nails. I paid DOUBLE for what should have just been a fill, and boy was it a surprise when I got up to the till and saw she was charging me $75. I'm livid. I will absolutely not be returning here. I will be travelling across the city to the salon in my old neighbourhood where they do an excellent job EVERY time and don't rip their customers off.

These ladies are the best! They are always accommodating and super quick. They do such a great job and It's the only place I don't have to worry about a nail breaking ever! I would not go anywhere else!!

I asked the lady many times if she could do this, she told me she could and just couldn’t do it and wasted my time and messed them up really bad. Two hours in I asked her to stop and just leave it and she ended up giving me really rushed French tips that took 5 mins to get done.

I have been coming here for years, and I really wanted to support these ladies. Especially Judy - she does awesome designs. However, the quality seems to be getting worse (ie. chipping within 1 week), and whenever I ask for a design, or cat eye, nobody seems to want to do it. I had to explain that I come to them, for things that I can't do myself. If I wanted a plain old manicure I could do it at home. Every time I come in now it takes hours (approx. 3 for a mani-pedi), and I either get someone inexperienced (but at least they care about trying to do a good job), or the owner (who seems tired of doing nails, does not seem to care if they're symmetrical, and would rather be on her phone). The final straw was when my cat eye gel nails chipped, in under a week, after the owner did them. I called to see if I could get in on a Sunday, but no one answered. Google said they were open though, and knowing that the owner spends a lot of time on the phone, I decided to drive over... in an uber. (Oh yeah, this was right after the hail storm destroyed my car, I had very little money, insurance was a nightmare and it was impossible to get a rental.) When I get there, the sign says OPEN, Sundays 11-5. I check my time, it's just past 11. I call, no one answers. I figure they must be having a late start for some reason, so I do groceries and return approx 1.5 hours later. Guess what? Still no one's there, still no phone pick up. I did return the following weekend and Mae did a very good job that lasted. But every other time, I feel like it's not worth $100 + Tip. Every time the owner has messed up, she takes no accountability for it, and I pay full price. They need to understand that I pay them to do a better job than I can, and make my nails durable. Sadly, I think it's time to find a new nail studio.

I had a wonderful experience here yesterday. They are open late (til 7 pm) and took me last minute as a walk-in and did a fabulous job with my shellac manicure. Professional and quick! 5 stars!
