Welcome to my website! My name is Michael Lau and I was born and raised in Golden, British Columbia. My interest in chiropractic began immediately after my very first chiropractic treatment in Calgary, Alberta. At the time, I was a student with chronic low back and neck pain. Truthfully, I assumed that it was normal for all students to experience neck and low back pain, especially when exams were around the corner. In my last year of study at UofC, I experienced severe low back pain and I was desperate for help — It was only then that I was introduced to a life-changing profession, chiropractic. After my very first chiropractic treatment, I was an instant believer. I knew that if I could provide the same quality of care for others, I would be fulfilled.
Upon receiving my Bachelor of Kinesiology with Distinction at the University of Calgary, I decided to pursue chiropractic at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario. During my clinical internship, I was fortunate enough to be nominated as 1 of 13 chiropractors to volunteer abroad in the Dominican Republic. While I was there, I provided basic health care and chiropractic care to the underserviced population. This eye-opening experience allowed me to hone in on my non-verbal communication skills as well as my chiropractic techniques. This is also where I discovered my passion and interest in neurological conditions/neuropathies, such as stroke and facial pain.
Outside from doing what I love, I enjoy living an active and healthy lifestyle along with international volunteering. My previous experiences in Honduras, Uganda, Dominican Republic, and Asia have taught me so much about life and culture. I hope to help those in need no matter where they are. In Calgary, you can find me at the gym, Centre Avenue Badminton, or on a hiking trail in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dr. Michael worked with me for weeks doing Shockwave Therapy to help with chronic hip and knee pain that I’ve been experiencing for 9 years. When we realized it wasn’t working as well as it should (which he explained was a possibility before we started) he was very honest and told me that I shouldn’t keep doing it if it’s not helping. Since then he recommended other therapies and has been checking in with me consistently to see how my recovery is going.
He has helped me get relief from migraines and neck pain, rib pain, back pain, and overall has been such a great person to get to know. He is trained in different treatments so if you aren’t feeling enough relief from adjusting alone he will use other techniques to help you feel more relief. He is one of the best Chiropractors in Calgary and he truly wants you to feel better.

Dr Michael did a general check and performed adjustments to my back that greatly helped my posture. What impressed me about Dr. Michael is that he took time to understand my lifestyle and recommended changes like getting an ergonomic chair, the right pillow and sitting posture. Dr. Michael focused on preventing any future problems. Dr. Michael is very friendly and i definitely recommend him to everyone.

Really makes you feel comfortable before he starts adjusting you and ensures you are okay with adjustments he’s done and confirms if it’s within your comfort level before moving forward. I’ve had the most successful adjustments with him, didn’t think I’d hear so many cracks as previous chiropractors wouldn’t try different methods if they weren’t successful adjusting an area. 15/10 would recommend him!

He took the time to analyze the issue and provided a detail explanations of the treatment plan. He provides treatment methods such as acupuncture on top of the regular adjustments. This has really helped relieve a lot of tension near my shoulder that I was experiencing for years.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm a new patient to to this Clinic. I live in the NW so its nice to have a clinic near to my house. I had a torn rotator cuff in my younger years and recently I injured my right shoulder again in the gym. My shoulder hurt so much i was not able to move it. Getting out of bed was a task. I had gone to another physio clinic when this happened to get relief. The knowledge and diagnosis was bang on but the equipment unfortunately was outdated. I've had ultrasound done before with very little success. So this is what brought me to Dr Lau. I did some research and I wanted to do shock wave therapy. So I booked myself in last minute to see him.
After a short discussion of my issue Dr Lau treated my shoulder with shock wave therapy, some asian ointment and even taped my shoulder. He told me to stop icing my shoulder and start to give it heat. I did exactly that for about a week. The results blew my mind. My shoulder recovered very quickly and it got better day by day. I did the recommended pendulum swings and mobility exercises to help increase my range of motion. I would say by the first week my shoulder was 90 percent. This was done in late January. Fast forward to now my shoulder is 100 percent. I just did a second session with Dr Lau yesterday and he hit both my shoulders. Again I booked in last minute and he was very accommodating. I chatted with him most of my session and hope we are able to get my fixed up.
I would recommend my friends and family to see him. I love fact he is available on weekends and even late at night. Ive been to many clinics in Calgary and it is nice to see he has all the latest tech. My next appointment will be IMS. Look forward to it!
