Discovery Ridge Pharmacy and Travel Clinic - Calgary

The worst pharmacy experience imaginable. The pharmacist, Noha was (1) Untruthful, (2) Unprofessional and (3) Unsafe. (1) Untruthful - To check with my insurance company for coverage of a compound rx, Noha told to me I had to call them myself. I delayed treatment for several days before I had time to do so, and spent an hour on the phone, only to find out that it is not possible for a patient to do this as the pharmacist needs to provide specific details about the compound. Insurance said it is something a compound pharmacist should be very familiar with doing. When I told Noha this, she admitted to already having a specific phone number for this type of call direct to my insurer and routinely doing so. (2) Unprofessional - I asked when I could pick up the rx and she said she could do it the next day. I said I would be there between 10am-12pm; she said she'd have it ready. I showed up around 1:30pm and the rx wasn't ready. Noha then implied that based solely on my appearance, I looked like "I didn't need it". It was extremely rude and insensitive. After I assured her that my doc (a specialist) and I had discussed it at length & agreed on this treatment plan, she then said I should "come back in a few hours" when she'd have it ready. Since I'd already driven 45 minutes out of my way to get there (my doc specifically works with this compound pharmacy) and I needed to get to work, I asked if it could be done while I waited. She agreed and said it would take 30 minutes. After waiting in my vehicle over an hour, I returned and she STILL had not prepared it. This was the middle of the day during the week, and there was no other customers in the pharmacy. (3) Unsafe - On my initial phone call with Noha I found out one of the compound's ingredients was something I reacted badly to in the past, so I informed her I was allergic and would not take it, and asked if there was another ingredient that could be substituted. Instead of heeding this info and consulting my doctor for details or potential alternatives, she assured me that the reaction I previously had was "normal". I was very skeptical, but because she was so adamant - and a pharmacist/medical professional - I decided to proceed on a trial basis. On speaking with her the day I picked it up, I again expressed my concerns about a possible allergic reaction and she again reassured me that it would be fine, and implied there were no alternative treatments. So I tried a bit of it there with her and noticed some redness and itchiness at the site. She brushed it off and reiterated this was a normal action of the ingredients. When I used the compound that evening, I woke up with a severe allergic reaction. My eyes were almost swollen shut and there was extreme pain and burning on every inch the compound had touched. I saw my family doc (not the prescriber) and she said this was not a normal action of the ingredients as the pharmacist suggested, but Urticaria and Angioedema as a part of an anaphylactic reaction. I was lucky that the swelling was in my eyes and not my throat or I may never have woken up. This was an extremely dangerous situation and she had NO concern. Her negligence could have ended my life, and she did not follow up with me at any point. In fact, when I called the prescribing doctor to inform them about the reaction, they said they’d questioned her and she DENIED knowing about the allergy, instead blaming me for "never informing her". This resulted in me being denied further treatment with that doc as I was now too "high risk" & forcing me to start over with a new specialist. This is THE WORST pharmacy ever - by far. There were many more things I didn't mention - just trust me - avoid it at all costs! Edit/Update: Everything I have stated is 100% truthful. To respond by essentially calling me a liar is adding even more insult to injury. I would not drag this company through the mud for no reason. I have attached photos of the allergic reaction that I had as a direct result of this experience.

Very professional pharmacist. Will give you best recommendation for your health and your bucks. Literally she kept looking in to my vaccination history for an hour just to save my money not thinking about neither her time nor her profit. Amazing

I am a frequent traveler. I have tried several travel clinics in the past. This travel clinic is best by far. Knowledgeable pharmacist, no waiting time, cheapest fees. The whole experience was amazing. Oh I forgot to say, this was the first time in my life not to freak out from injections. It went so smooth.

Very good experience as a travel clinic. The pharmacist is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. She even suggested options that my doctor didn't think about to avoid unnecessary vaccination. They have direct billing with Sunlife for vaccines and the consultation price is extremely reasonable. It also has a discount if you are AMA member. I would definitely recommend this place.

I unfortunately forgot to grab the pharmacists name who was working this evening (Feb 10th) but I called and was told I could drop by anytime I’d like to discuss travel vaccinations. She helped me research and decide which vaccinations I would need and even went as far as printing out information I could use for my vacation. I am grateful for her help and would recommend this location to anyone who needs help! So kind and just a pleasure to deal with. I will be returning to this location for any further needs! ?

Discovery Ridge is an amazing family owned pharmacy with lots of convenient parking. They just launched COVID19 rapid antigen testing for travel and offer a great selection of Canadian products. Worth a visit!

Noha is a wonderful pharmacist. She is very kind, knowledgable, and caring, and always goes out of her way to provide the best care. The team at Discovery Ridge pharmacy is very efficient. I always look forward to stopping in whenever I have something to pick up.

My boyfriend and I went to Discovery Ridge Pharmacy for covid rapid antigen tests prior to travelling. The pharmacist, Haby Shenoda, did not ask for our passports or any form of ID which, now that I have done this several times at different places, know is standard practice. We were asked to sit in filthy chairs while getting swabbed. The actually "swabbing" was not done correctly. The results that we were emailed did not have our middle names therefore were not accepted by the airline. I tried to contact the pharmacy about this but got no response. I recently looked on My Health Records and noticed a prescription for "organic flax seed oil" from Haby Shenoda on the date that I had my antigen test. I have never been prescribed flax seed oil in my life. Again, I tried to contact them about this via email and phone but did not get a response. The actually pharmacy is very unclean, and my experience speaks to their unprofessionalism and gross incompetence. I fear for customers who actually rely on them for accurate prescriptions and medical advice.
