We have been continually having problems with direct energy billing over the last months. We continually may receive more than one bill for the same month with us having a credit. This month we received 5 bills in 5 separate envelopes. The bills range from owing $171.76 to gradually increasing in credit value to the 5th billing having a credit of $2794.84 . We spent some time speaking with an agent who had great difficulty explaining the billing. We asked to speak to a supervisor who also had trouble explaining why we were receiving all of the bills. We were frustrated and confused with the results we received and simply not satisfied. The supervisor said our complaint would be sent up higher. So what? Does this improve their service. Can't wait until next month.

Do not deal with Direct Energy period! I called to have our service disconnected cause we are moving. After 10 minutes on the phone with someone who barely spoke English and was at some call center who knows where, found out I called the wrong Direct Energy....? Transferred me to another person who barely spoke English. Cancelled service. I called Epcor and spoke to a couple of very helpful people who spoke clear English to set up our new service. Direct Energy is very shady. Will not deal with them ever again!

worst energy and utility provider in Canada. They over price there services during your contract and after. I had a very bad experience with this company. As soon as i started using there service my utility bill went up almost 50%.

Whatever you do, do not get any utility service from these people! They are legitimate scam artists who will literally add money to you bill for no reason, then they won't let you pay it online, over the phone or any other way, as soon as you call them and try to set up any kind of direct deposit and they will tell you it is good and then hit you on your next bill with "late fees" and they make it near impossible to just leave and go with someone else, throwing all kinds of fees that they just pull out of thin air, and even when they tell you that you have paid your final bill they will send you more bills threatening to send them to collections if it's not paid in full immediately. Take the word of someone who has suffered for months with these bunch of scammers and go to someone like Epcore.

I never hooked up gas with them and yet they charged me then they come to my house leaving my gate open and my dogs now ran away really good customer service and a note saying urgent notice. they cut a lot of lock off cuz I didn't use gas so I locked it off I'm sure that's illegal to for someone to cut a LOTO off.

I have been a customer for nearly 10 years. Recently I compared bills with some of my friends and was shocked to learn how much I was being over charged. I promptly switched companies upon receiving my last bill each and every administrative fee and retailer charge was nearly 4 times the rate as previous months. The icing on the cake is the billing period was shorter and my energy consumption was half of the previous month. I highly recommend never using this company and also to shop around and ask about rates. Compare your bills to family and friends bills. Direct energy and their rates are hidden from each bill because they don't want anyone to know how much they are charging you. They are non-regulated after all. I was put on hold for nearly 15 minutes and each time I asked a question they would talk over me. 1 star for this company is generous.

The worst decision ever taken by me was to switch from EPCOR to Direct Energy. I was stopped and counselled by one of the agents of Direct Energy. I was least interested but just for the sake to listen them as they pretended to be generous, I stood by. I ended us in switching to direct energy but that was the foolish decision to make. I realized this when I ended us paying extra 20-25 CAD than my usual billing amount given the fact that I am staying alone in my apartment. I would never recommend anyone to take their services.

In the running for the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. We purchased a new furnace and ac unit in 2016, complete with full warranty. The installation team was late, rude and initially refused to install the Nest thermostat provided for free by their company in return for signing a service contract. They had to be called back again because the ac unit wasn't working, the first time not showing up at all and then trying to charge us saying we weren't home. I was home all day with two loud dogs who bark at anyone pulling into the driveway. The third time they were late again but at least the ac worked when they left. We were using them for yearly maintenance and inspections but they kept not showing up and then saying we weren't home. I can't even count the number of personal days my husband and I wasted getting stood up by Direct Energy. I don't know if it's because we're rural or maybe because their techs are afraid of dogs but they were obviously intent on not servicing our house in particular since they lied repeatedly to get us blacklisted. So now we're on the "do not service list" and they're refusing to do warranty work. Still waiting to hear back from the Ombudsman on how that's legal. Thankfully Reliance has provided us with quick, professional and friendly service. Always showing up on time and you know, just all around doing what they're paid to do. I tell all my friends, family and coworkers to avoid Direct Energy at all costs. They're a despicable company who treats their customers horribly. The minute our contract is up we'll be switching providers and never looking back.
