Joined the Gym about a year ago and had a great experience up until more recently. I really liked the staff, specifically Melody and Marco - they always went out of their way to increase the customer experience and kept me coming back even though it was further from where I lived at the time. In December, I froze my membership shortly before going abroad from 6 months and was *promised* I was not going to incur any charges aside from the annual fee. I didn't receive any charges until I went into the gym to reactivate my membership more recently - where I was told I had $150+ in late charges. When I mentioned that I froze the account they looked up my file and confirmed this... - however they said that it is automatically unfrozen after 3 months...? Why was I not notified about this upon freezing my account? As I read through other reviews - I see this is not a one time occurrence but a trend. I asked why I was being charged when it clearly shows on my file that I froze it to which the desk associate said " I don't know, but there is nothing I can do. I can grab my manager but they will say the same thing." This has been a total headache to deal with and it reminds me of why I avoid low cost, big box gyms in the first place - bad customer service and zero accountability on management. The one upside in all of this is that I'm glad this happened to me before I pitched the Crunch Fitness corporate membership to the company I work for - that would have been embarrassing.

There were a few red flags for me here, like how 2 toilets were out of order in the men’s room and 3 out of 4 soap dispensers had no soap in them. As far as equipment goes, 9 of their ~25 spin bikes were out of order, they didn’t have any cardio rowers, and there was no music playing (and to put this all into context, the gym had opened not even 2 months prior, and December is a very low attendance month anyway, which concerns me what state the gym would be in if it were busy). ANYWAY, I was pleasantly surprised with the rest of the gym. They put in a couple of platforms with bumper plates, got some turf and sleds, have a 3D smith machine (which are pretty rare), and have a really neat rig with boxing bags and an excellent storage rack for all of their accessories. One thing I would have liked to see in this space (formerly the World Health Jasper Ave location) is them knocking the wall down in what used to be the women’s only area, so that this space can reach its full potential. Now it’s just a weird maze in there with lots of mirrors.

They provided us 24 hours via email to let us know that the location is closing down and we will only have access to WEM which is fine. What is not fine is that with all the inconvenience that you guys caused by doing so you still tell the customer that they need to provide you with 30 days notice regardless of the situation and that i will have to pay for a month then the contract is canceled. Let's be clear i have nothing against the staff of crunch they always been helpful , but situations like this really tells you if a business is operating ethically or not. i understand that the contract states that i have a give 30 days notice, and wish you guys valued your members and gave them the same courtesy.

Fine gym. Has to close their location - that's fine and sucks for the people working there but then asking someone to drive to another location just for a signature to cancel their payment is bit much edit: Looking at the other reviews i have a feeling coming in for a signature is going to be hassle and i'm going to be charged a bunch more - i'll update when i go. Edit a month so since the above edit: alright, they ended up taking care of everything for me, no hassle.

They closed this location and barely informed anyone and had their membership transferred to WEM which is far away and the reason why I even joined Crunch for their Jasper Location. When I called to cancel my membership, they say it has to be done in person which is extremely inconvenient and none of the customer service or staff seem to care at all to help. Apparently the reason they closed too was because they weren't paying their rent....unbelievable.

worst gym experience ever. how can a supposedly respectable gym have such terrible infrastructure with limited machines, machines that don't work most of the time and a broken shower???? What kind of gym has 24 hour branches in one province but not in others?? worst of all, what kind of gym has a hidden, discreet policy that allows them to throw away belongings left in a locker with a lock we pay for??? can someone explain to me why almost 500 dollars worth of my stuff was tossed outta my locker even though i've been a member for months now and how i won't be reimbursed for it after speaking to a manager that was disrespectful???? yelling and waving her hands at me when they have no right to throw out my stuff….. i don't understand how a gym like this is still operational with such a disappointing and low standard services. save yourself the money and hassle and go to another gym. i cant rate it a 0 so ima give it a 1.

On March 21st received an email that this location would be closed as of March 22 and my membership would be transferred to the WEM location and that any cancellation would have to be done in person. After cancelling the account I was informed that because I did not cancel my membership before 30 days of next payment I would still be accountable for this monthly fee for a gym that I could not access. I got this membership because it was convenient and it only took me 20 minutes by train to get there so I could workout in mornings before working. The commute for me to attend the WEM location would take an hour and 10 minutes to get there and then another hour to get back to the area of my work. For crunch to expect this and not to inform members in a timely manner to allow them to stop membership before next billing period says a lot about how they operate. Will not be recommending Crunch to anyone due to this experience.

Less than 24 hours notice to members that the Jasper Ave location would be closing permanently. They knew about the closure before 24 hours but Crunch Corporate told the staff not to talk to members about the closure until Corporate sent out the email communication. This review is a reflection of Crunch Corporate, NOT about the wonderful staff that worked at the Jasper location. This was the second time they closed the Jasper Ave location with minimal notice to members. I prepaid for an annual membership and was told I can’t get a refund because it’s a paid in full membership. I live in Sherwood Park and work downtown so this location was convenient for me. Expecting me to drive all the way to WEM from Sherwood Park is not acceptable. Do better Crunch Corporate
