A little more pricey, slow moving staff, however for a local hardware store they carry a good selection.

This store has very poor inventory- I understand the shortages caused supply chain issues. Some staff are very helpful others not. Cashing out is a hit and miss experience... friendly to unfriendly to dismissive. Home Depot is further and not a local store but the staff are courteous.

Just came from there, and no one wanted to help me. After repeatedly asking trying to ask for help the worker basically pointed in the direction of what I wanted and walked away. After getting his attention again I told him what I was looking for specifically and his seems annoyed that I was asking him.him and the cashier were very dismissive when I repeatedly asked for help. I felt terrible being in there. AVOID!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Accepted cash helped me over the phone and in person to find exactly what I needed. Much better than Home Depot who - after trying to call for days on end - told me they wouldn’t accept cash and could only order on their website; which would also take quite some time. Very happy with the customer service and professionalism of the staff at Dickson Home Hardware. Thanks again! I’ll be back for all my renovation and work related needs!

Excellent customer service from Darren!! What a great experience!! I placed an order online and had a problem with it, so I ended up calling the store before I pick up my item. Absolutely pleasant and helpful service from him. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I usually shop at other hardware stores for household products, and this was my first time at Home Hardware store. It was quick and easy process to pick up the item. The service was beyond my expectation and I know where to shop next time! Thank you so much!! :)

Lovely people running a local business, but the physical space itself is cramped and uncomfortable. It's definitely an older store, so there's only so much they can work with. Regardless, the folks are helpful and polite, and while the prices are higher than Home Depot, I understand why. I do appreciate the dedicated parking spot, especially with it being an Avenue Rd business where parking is difficult.

I took the icy cold reception and dismissiveness personally and avoided this store, only going there when I was in a pinch as it is in my neighbourhood and I would have to drive 15 minutes to get to Home Depot; I didn’t realize that others found the staff to be very rude and dismissive as well. I guess they pick and choose whom to treat wellβ€”or not. I made the bad choice to shop there recently. When I got home and checked my receipt I noticed that I was charged $27.99 for the Honeywell humidifier replacement filter β€œE” which I though was pricy. When I checked the box the sticker said $24.99. I searched high and low for the receipt. After a couple of days of not finding the receipt, I called to talk to the manager to say that I was either charged $3 extra for the item or the sticker price doesn’t match with what is in their system. (I planned to continue to look for the receipt knowing that it is necessary for a refund but thought they should know what happened in the meanwhile). I spoke with one of the owners, Tony, who was very aggressive and said β€œit is your responsibility to check your receipt before you leave the store,” that I should be addressing the matter the β€œsame day,” and that I was being β€œunreasonable” for calling him 4 days later (It was actually 3 days later; they have a 30 day refund policy) and complaining about being overcharged. He would not check to see if the price in their system was indeed $24.99 but confirmed that the cashiers can both scan the item or punch it in manually. I think the defensiveness I got from Tony is very telling. When businesses value transparency and customer relations -- not just in written policy but in day to day interaction with all customers --management would not respond with such hostility. The shouting and accusations make me afraid to go back to get my $3. I have pursued this out this out of principle. I will continue to shop at Home Depot where I am treated like a valued customer and valued Canadian.
