The people who attend are generally polite, friendly and respectful. The volunteers are wonderful people who happily donate their time and energy in to helping the less fortunate. We produce more than enough food for everyone to be well fed in this country however distribution and greed amongst others factors make it a challenge, this is a great example of how society has found solutions to these challenges.

I dropped by to seek out my friend who I understood was there on this occasion. I was offered a bowl of soup, a sandwich, pastries and other goodies. I declined most of what I was offered however I did have a have a cup of coffee and enjoyed a cookie. The place was clean, people were well mannered and respectful of each other and the facility in general. While I wasn't able to locate my friend at this location I was provided some insight and my next place to check was successful. For those in need this place truly is a much needed solution to the constantly increasing cost of food and the all too often shortage of gainful employment opportunities. As the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow services such as this will continue to be necessary and the demand I'm sure will grow. The people who dedicate their time and energy volunteering each day, week, month and year are truly wonderful people and deserve out respect!

The volunteers and staff at the Cowichan Valley Basket Society food bank are extraordinary. Over 100 volunteers and a small staff keep the food bank running 6 days a week feeding hundreds of people every day. Soup, sandwiches and tasty treats are provided from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Coffee and tea also available. No cost of course! Food hampers are given out 3 days a week (Mon, Wed & Fri) to over 1700 families a year. No one leaves here hungry!

One of the best places around if you need a helping hand .... these guys are done off the best people for people in need.... only true downfall is they are closed sundays and holidays.....hhhhrrmmmmph. Guess even saints need a day or two off from helping people eh? The reason I say that is becsuse these people truly like helping people..... unlike warmland who actually judge people and treat them like lower class citizens no matter what their issues are..... they kick people when they are down..... can't even trust that their vaccines are truly vaccines with how badly Sean(boss) treats the people, constantly handing out service breaks.... even if your feet are bleeding and sore from walking all day and every day... not only will he turn you away but also ban you for a week.... just not a single ounce of goodness or human decency in this guy's life.....

This is the local food bank and soup kitchen. Over all people are very respectful, and do their best to help one another out. It is a saving grace in the community and should be revered by all.

I can't say enuff good things about this lil piece of heaven. Staff is VERY friendly spreading smiles to everyone who enters. My believe is everyone leaves with a full belly and a piece of mind knowing food is in the cupboards. Thank you for all who volunteer and work here.
