About Chinook Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Ltd
Chinook Refrigeration & Air Conditioning was founded in 1966, with the vision of Lloyd P. Elfner. He wanted to deliver service at a higher level than the standard of the day, with a staff of like-minded individuals.
Chinook continued to elevate the service model throughout the 1970s with the arrival of Geoff Vachon, who helped to guide the company on a steadily upward trajectory over the next two decades. Then, in 2000, Lorne Kemp (who had risen through the company since his arrival in 1988) formed a ten-year succession plan to eventually take over the company, cementing Chinook’s legacy as the leading commercial refrigeration provider in southern Alberta. In 2010, Jeff passed the company into Lorne’s capable hands, leading to further steady growth.
Today, a new ownership group, comprised of four long-time Chinook employees, is embarking on a journey, one which honours and builds upon the heritage that Chinook has built. Their mission is to continue the growth of Chinook, while holding fast to the core values that Lloyd, Geoff and Lorne embodied during their tenures: delivering the highest level of personal service to every single one of Chinook’s clients.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dont believe this guys. They will charge you money for nothing. I called this company to check my walk in cooler. They sent one guy without a ladder. He went back to office and took ladder. Checked 20-25 min on my roof and camedown and told me your compressor need to change. I said i let you know by evening. And then He charged me $327. He was here for just 45 min and charge 3 hrs service charge. Such a nonsense service i ve ever noticed. Dont take any service from that guys.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not the cheapest on the market but certainly the best value for dollar. These guys know what they're doing unlike a lot of buisnesses that will just send out apprentices who know nothing. When Chinook sends apprentices they always have qualified competent j-men to back them up. It's hit and miss with a lot of refrigeration companies but you know the problem will be solved with these guys at Chinook. The trade is changing a lot with regulation changes to various types of refrigerants and that means lots of adjustments from oil changes to txvs are in the future for a lot of cold storage facilities with very pricey conversions. My advice is to not gamble your equipment on some two or three man operation that doesn't have a redundancy of qualified individuals. Spend the money, get the right people to do the work and then sleep better at night.
