β€œThis artwork is part of a series of murals in Chinatown, commissioned through the City's Chinatown Mural Artist Call 2019. In February 2019, the City invited proposals for temporary painted murals and digital printed artwork within Chinatown's public realm. In April 2019, proposals were shortlisted by a panel of art experts from Chinatown who have cultural knowledge of the neighbourhood's heritage, with four projects then recommended for commission. Artist statement The historical Chinatown Spring Festival parade fully reflects the success of multiculturalism in Canada. The setting of this mural painting is in front of the Millennium Gate in Chinatown, It is a joyful celebration, with Chinese traditional dragon and line dances welcoming the god of wealth. In attendance are people from the political and business circles as well as from the Chinese community. There are also the veterans’ military band members and people from the various indigenous nations. The scene depicted symbolizes the longevity and prosperity of Vancouver Chinatown.” I had a good amount of talks with Shuren Arthur Cheng about life and all. He taught me a lot though I don’t always agree, he is a valuable asset to the Chinese community. He tells stories that elevate people and connect cultures, that’s not something many do these days. I was there when he painted this mural.

Free parking for the first 30 mins. There are plenty of parking spaces here for shoppers. Great parking garage for Chinatown shoppers. I also find this parking garage to be relatively safe. They have foot patrol in the plaza and parking area. The only minor gripe is that you cannot back into the parking spot. Also some spots are a bit narrow and suitable for small cars. There are a number of businesses in the plaza plus a food court. There are shops outside the plaza on street level as well. Occasionally there are special events in the lobby.

The place is not bad but it closes very early. There are no public restrooms here and it feels like the only time you would visit this place is when you have to visit the clinic upstairs on the second floor. Overall it's an okay place.

Funny little mall with eclectic mix of restaurants and brick-a-brac but always worth a walk through to see what has been added, changed, moved around or now carries a larger groupng of products. The little 'malls' like this are 'hidden' where you don't expect them, there's 3 or 4 others like this and we'll worth a wander around just to see what's new or different from each other.

I happened to pass by Chinatown Plaza as I was looking for interesting places to photograph. Chinatown Plaza is quite quiet with a small number of Chinese-owned stores and a large restaurant on the top floor. You will often see seniors playing chess or mahjong in the mornings and weekends. The washrooms are very clean and the plaza in general is very clean. The parking lot is also quiet and I enjoy walking up there to take photos. The parking lot also is much more clean and safe compared to the other lots located nearby such as the one on Cambie and West Pender Street.

I doubt a lot of people even know this place exists, a shame because they have some of the best food in Chinatown. I had forgotten about this hidden gem. Inside, they have a variety of shops, mostly food, a shoe repair, a flower shop. However the one food shop directly to the back has got some of the best Chinese food I have had in so many years I was blown away! It was REALLY good, and for sure fresh and quality ingredients. The dry pork was amazing. A great portion for one person at $10. Highly recommend!

Awesome little mall, stopped in with a friend to grab some lunch and sightsee. Loved the area architecture. May not be able to speak the language, but with a little common courtesy and pointing we were able to communicate. Will definately stop here again when in Vancouver.
