In facilitating my speedy recovery, I just want to thank the entire staff for their dedication. I am highly impressed with the respect and dignity with which the medical staff treated me during my stay.

The day I had breast cancer surgery was the same day the Red Deer Cancer Clinic opened. I was so glad that I did not have to travel to another city for Chemo or Radiation treatments. The staff were well informed, understanding and encouraging. The Chemo Therapy staff won me over the first day by bringing me a 'warmed' blanket. The Radiation Staff were both professional and efficient. I am a survivor and give a ton of credit to this because of this remarkable Center and all those who work there.

My husband did not care for the communication gap The screen on the radiation machine bubbled and he had to scream to stop it... Has had issues since that appointment, as he feels a burning sensation and discomfort. Doctors tell him it is scar tissue. The radiation did help, but so much more has happened in the 2 years that folliwed that experience. The oncologist retired (again), another oncologist came out of retirement (not sure if she is still there). The radiation machine was shut down and the made arrangements right away ti get it fixed (the radiation staff are awesome, you will be pleased with them for sure). The new eurologist asked for biopsies to be sent to Edmonton, the oncologist at that time said no- he sent them to Calgary (refused to send to Edmonton) My view point on that was negative and the new eurologist had to wait on Calgary to diagnose... Which did take some time (we still think something went wring in that diagnosis, as the cancer is back and even more aggressive - now in bones). The experience is my view only, my husband would definately have a different view point as it was him that experienced this first hand.... Red Deer seemed to me to pick and choose who they wanted to do diagnosis leaving the specialist (eurologist) in limbo and he could not treat quickly Very sadly.... This should have gone in the direction the eurologist requsted (he would have chose to try to remove the cancer and or do chemo first) as he is the long term doctor for the patient. You can switch where you go for chemo or radiation (if they can get you in prior to 3 months...). My husband is devastated to say the least as I am feeling the same... ? It should have been done different with more communication between the parties involved in diagnosis and treatment. We are extremely happy with hubby's eurologist - he is very very good at his job, and he shows that he cares for his patience, you can tell by how he communicates with them...
