Beautiful location in the mountains away from the hustle bustle. We stayed there on the first week after COVID re-opening and we were disappointed to see the complimentary breakfast being served buffet style- would have liked to see the hotel being more cautious even though restrictions have been lifted. Otherwise we had a pleasant stay, very appreciative of the flexibility of the cancellation policy given the stress of planning vacation during COVID times.

This would have easily been a 5-star review however there was a situation that occurred that I was completely taken aback by and which was never rectified in anyway. We booked to stay for 4 nights and decided to have dinner at the restaurant one evening after a very long day at Lake O'hara. We were really looking forward to this meal as it would have been the perfect end to a perfect day. However it ended up being the worst experience I have ever had dining in my entire life and I have traveled a ton. I have never experienced such racism and condescension in my life. The server her name was Shauna (I believe) was the most belittling horrible lady who made me & my partner feel very uncomfortable. She started not by greeting us but instead by spewing out the entire specials list before I could even get a word in (she had already interrupted me) I was trying to inform her that we were vegetarian which we had already made clear when reserving so everything she recited to us in a very confusing manner was useless. I had already taken a look at the menu and wanted to just ask her a simple question but she would not listen and instead was trying to explain to me what gnocchi was which was not even my question. I am well aware of what basic dinner menu items are her explanation was incorrect either way. She mixed up all our dishes and drinks which and she did not bring us cutlery which we had to ask her for. She was very unprofessional and the way she would talk to us was so different to the manner in which she would speak to the Caucasian guests. It may sound trivial but being treated this way by a staff member where you have paid money to stay is unacceptable. We notified the lodge about the situation and were supposed to get a call from the manager which never happened. In any case they could have reached us through email but no action was taken on their end. I will be fair and say the food was good and made with fresh local ingredients. The cocktails were okay nothing special so could skip on that and jump straight to the wine. Apart from the staff being rude and if I could erase the dinner out of my memory I liked the property itself. Others mention the rooms being small but it was just the 2 of us so it didn't feel too tight for us. The kicking horse pass, the fire pit, Muskoka chairs and picnic basket in the room with blankets made leisure time very cozy. Our room was clean, the coffee machine worked but the only thing was it was a bit dark. The breakfast that is included is also very good and they can pack it for you if you want it to go.

An incredible experience!! Best place to stay in the Rockies. Stayed for 8 days in July and couldn’t be happier. The cottage was beautifully decorated with all modern amenities and included a real fireplace. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Daryl the manager helped plan our trip months ahead and thanks to him we had such an unbelievable experience. From the Iceline trail, to the horse ride with Timberline Tours, to the whitewater rafting with Wild Water Adventures, it’s been an incredible week. Thank you all that helped made our 20th anniversary so special. We will definitely return.

Awesome stay at Cathedral Mountain Lodge - perfect after a day on the Ice Line trail! The bath with provided salts was so appreciated! Cozy idealic cabins at a picturesque Rocky Mountain location, highly recommend Cathedral Mountain Lodge. Only wish I could've stayed longer, the complimentary breakfast was fantastic with hot and cold items.

We stayed across the road at the camp site but came for dinner. Weekdays non guests can have dinner there. The meal was wonderful. Well prepared and served. We had dessert in front of the fire. They even helped us charge our laptop for two nights after our dc/ac converter died so my husband can meet a work deadline.

It’s kind of a mutual feeling that I had after staying for 4 nights at the Cathedral Lodge. First of all, the picture the location as perfect, but in reality you’re next to the highway and the train. You can expect some noisy environment sometimes. Not the ideal as they presented. Second of all the cabin, we selected a Cathedral king premier cabin. Looked beautiful in the pictures. In reality, there is a difference. You actually share the same cabin with some else. There is only a very tiny room between your two rooms. If you love sharing good, if you love intimacy, ran away. The cleaning is not at a level of 400$ per night stay, as well as the room service. On the positive side, the privilege access to lake moraine and the canoe. Definitely a must see ! The restaurant, the food they serve is great, local and organic. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

The lodge has since closed for the 2021 season, after our two nights of pleasant and relaxing stay. Everything was perfect, nice staffs, cozy log cabin, quality food service, all found at the foot of the mountain. The last dinner before the closure of the season was a such a high note. The nutty bread + butter maple & sage easily tuned up the appetite. The smoked Gorgonzola & Berries was purifying. For the main course, lamb rack would be a natural choice, which was sourced locally sourced in Alberta as per the attentive waitress. It was served tender and juicy, with slightly charred and crispy shell. One bite into it was like a symphony started performing in the mouth. The lamb rack was accompanied by mini tomatoes, olives, baby potatos, as well as some other seasoning stuff which completed the plate. And lastly, the satisfying cake put a strong ending to this play. Overall a flawless experience vacationing here. Looking forward to the next season.

Cathedral Mountain Lodge gets a star boost for its location in a fairy tale setting. We stayed for two nights in cabin 18 which was conveniently located near the main lodge but lacked the river front views of the larger cabins. The only small negative we have to report though is that you can hear the kitchen's extraction fan from this cabin (it bothered my fiance more than me, I had to strain to hear it). Now for all of the good! The early fall weather was magical so we struck lucky. We enjoyed an amazing campfire on the beach the first night and enjoyed the fire supplies provided and the blanket in the cabin! Remember to bring a flashlight or two when you pack if you plan to enjoy the fire past dark. Staff were good and our cabin was cozy and comfy. We dined at the Lodge dining room 1 of the nights we stayed and the food was nice and the restaurant accomodating. Wine list could use a boost but overall we enjoyed dinner. This is a great getaway for a romantic or family mountain escape. Also avoids the crowds of Banff and Lake Louise and there are a lot of sights to see and nature to enjoy close to the Lodge. Would love to go again.
