Cambridge Hotel and Conference Centre

I stay here all the time. Everything on the restaurant menu is fantastic, fantastic the pizza. Rooms are always nice, especially the renovated ones with laminate floors. Staff are always friendly and accommodating whether or not you have a vaxpass, they go above and beyond while complying with public health measures.

Positive: Night manager was super friendly, check in was a breeze. Negative: Lots of noise heard from the hallway. Room was already paid for and had to put a $200 deposit down when I checked in, and I still haven't had it refunded on my credit card, it's been 4 days.

I have some pros but unfortunately a lot of cons for this place. When I checked in and throughout my stay, I spoke with a lovely desk agent, Wray. He was incredibly nice and very accommodating. However, as our stay progressed, my partner and I ran into some issues with a housekeeper. During the first incident, she walked into our room, without knocking while we were working and saw us sitting at the desk and apologized for intruding. We said it was ok and requested that she came in after 2 pm as we were going to a wedding. 1:30 comes along and I am in the washroom, on the toilet and my partner is napping on the bed so he cannot see if the front door gets opened. The housekeeper comes into the room, unannounced and does NOT knock and proceeds to open the bathroom door during which I began shouting, "don't come in here, don't come in here!" At this point, I didn't know who it was but I hold my leg up against the door while I'm still on the toilet. The housekeeper then opens the door anyway and sees me on the toilet. She apologizes and walks back out of the bathroom and the room. Obviously, this was incredibly inappropriate and I have never felt so embarrassed. I decided to stay in the bathroom as I didn't know at that point if she was coming back into the room so I locked the bathroom door. My partner told me that the housekeeper's manager came in shortly after (this is still before 2 pm...we told them to come after) and said she was sorry for what had happened and that they needed to clean the room before 2 pm as their shift was ending. I do not understand why it mattered if their shifts were ending, you do not come in like that with that kind of excuse without knocking. This stay was pretty terrible and for anyone thinking of booking with this place, be aware, they could walk in on you at any time.

This was a 2.5-3 star hotel at best. The room itself was covered in cat hair, did not seem like it was thoroughly cleaned and the building is very dated. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad to the room, and the chicken had no seasoning, salad was okay, not worth the $22. The water in the menu also said it was 750ml and was given a 500 ml bottle for $6. I know room service is expensive but at least provide what is advertised. I stayed over 1 night for a wedding. If I ever go back to the area I will stay at another hotel as there are many around.

Room we booked were told it had a kitchenette but only a sink and a fridge. Suite was small and cramped, heat didn’t work, very noisy, and $15 buffet that was sparse. Only stayed one night and checked into a proper suite with a real kitchenette and was cheaper, cleaner, and way more value and free breakfast that was better than the $15 Buffett.

The standard room with 2 queen beds was quite large and was clean! We could not check in early, but they were willing to hold our bags for us. We were super happy with the continental breakfast in the morning: peameal bacon, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, beans, fruit, etc. Such a nice surprise before checking out!

Pros: Best breakfast buffet we’ve ever had, small hotel, easy to navigate, lots of parking, easy and quick check-in. Right off the 401 and close to everything we need - all the shopping and amenities were right at hand. Cons: The mattresses in our room were so old and uncomfortable. We felt the springs when laying on them. Very sore backs after 3 nights. I was on the third floor. I was able to check out my friends room on the fourth floor and it was newly renovated with a very comfy bed. I would stay here again but would ask for a renovated room.

Check in was easy. The hotel is clean and rooms are a decent size and up to date. My boy complaint is that our air conditioner was broken in our room. They sent maintenance to have a look but could not fixed it. We had booked 2 rooms next to each on our reservation. When they realized they couldn’t fix the AC they offered to move us, I explained that both rooms needed to be next to each other. The front desk employee said she could move some rooms around and for us to pack up our stuff and go down to swap out keys. We cleared out of the room and and when we went down to switch our keys she explained that she had made a mistake and they did not actually have enough rooms available to move us. So she had completely lied and made us pack up for no reason! We then had to endure 2 blazing hot days with no AC. They did discount the room when we complained again. Other than that it’s a decent place to stay.
