Calgary Well Woman Clinic - Calgary

I've been coming to this clinic for many years. From when I was a teenager till now I'm an expectant mother, this clinic has always been amazing to me. The staff is friendly, the wait times are never long and my experience is always positive. ESPECIALLY Dr. Packer! Working in healthcare myself, I work along side many other doctors and Dr. Packer is absolutely amazing. She listens and answers all my questions without ever making me feel rushed. Thank you!

Really positive experience visiting the Well Women Clinic today. The reception staff were warm & welcoming - really great at easing any anxiety I had regarding my visit. Dr. Morgan was fantastic. No nonsense, but also willing to fully listen to my concerns - I can’t even say that about my own GP! Both front end staff & Dr. Morgan took the time to explain the process, what my next steps would be, and what was expected from me for appointment preparedness, follow-up, etc. It was particularly appreciated that Dr. Morgan walked me through every step of my pelvic exam - no unexpected surprises - which again, eased my anxiety considerably. I waited maybe 5 minutes to get into my actual appointment & was able to book a follow up without having to wait weeks or even months just to get in to see the doctor again. Very much recommend this clinic - especially if you have had negative experiences at other women’s clinics or have any related anxiety. I was put at ease from start to finish.

I have been coming to the Calgary Well Woman Clinic for over 10 years. Their staff, including the receptionists, doctors and nurses are not only incredibly professional but they also make me feel like I’m visiting my favorite aunties. For a lot of women getting a PAP can be an uncomfortable experience but all of the doctors here are incredibly gentle and efficient. They are also excellent at answering all questions in a compassionate and sensitive manner. I could not recommend this clinic more.

I cannot say enough about the professional manner, the compassion and the protocol that Dr. morgan and her team create. Yes, my appointment was booked wrong and instead of a quick chat, with what I am going through, dr Morgan still took me and made the time for a proper consultation. She is clear and plainly explained myself to me and I walked out of there not just with choices but a feeling of empowerment. Dr. Morgan you are one of a kind and we are all lucky to have you. I went to this clinic about a year ago and saw Dr. Karen Packer. She is so lovely and I truly felt like she cared about my health and wanted to do everything she could to help me. I would definitely recommend her as a doctor! However, the wait times are ridiculous. I arrived 15 minutes early for my initial appointment, and waited almost an hour to be seen. Which I was fine with after leaving, because I received such wonder care from Dr. Packer, and was able to accomplish more than I anticipated for this appointment. I ended up booking a follow up appointment to have my first ever IUD inserted. But before I had my IUD inserted, I was called by the reception and they called me in for an emergency ultrasound! I drove 30 minutes to get there in a panic, and sat in the waiting room for around 45 minutes, only to find out that they called the wrong person ? needless to say, their reception is a bit disorganized. I am writing this review now because I am now experiencing cramps and bleeding, I called the clinic and they urged me to call 811 or see my family doctor - which is understandable as they were not able to see me for about a week. I’m a bit frustrated when I discovered that I should’ve been *shown* by my doctor (not dr. Packer, a different doctor did the insertion) how to tell if my IUD is in the correct place. Now my IUD might be dislodged when this could have been avoided. Even after my insertion I could never find the string, and I thought it was normal because it was soon after my appointment. I understand that it is my responsibility to an extent to do research and ensure that everything is correct, but that is not mandatory. I should be able to trust that the procedure was done correctly and shown how to tell if it correct. All in all, I don’t think I’ll be going back to this clinic ever again. It’s just too much of a hassle, and because they’re so busy, some information does not get passed along properly.

My experience here recently with dr. Packer was amazing! I have a lot of anxiety and she really took the time to make sure I felt comfortable and safe. I really appreciate her taking the time to make sure that I had a positive experience. All the women here are quite nice. I will definitely continue to go back to doctor Packer for all my lady needs.

I recommend this clinic enthusiastically. Friendly, accommodating staff run an efficient office. I didn’t encounter a long wait at all for an appointment. I was able to be seen the same week that I called. I saw Dr. MacQueen who was very nice and has a reassuring manner. She answered all of my questions and didn’t make me feel rushed. After my exam she offered to check when my next mammogram was due, and created the requisition for me. My only suggestion for the clinic would be to address accessibility on their website and Google Maps listing in terms of how they accommodate patients with mobility issues. They do a great job of this, but they don’t include this info anywhere online that I can see (other than to describe the entrance). To enter the building there is a wheelchair ramp as well as a short set of stairs with handrails on both sides. The entrance doors are wide enough for wheelchairs although the doors don’t appear to be automatic. There is a main floor exam room for patients who would have difficulty with the stairs to the second floor. They also have a modified exam table in the exam room on the main floor which is easier to manage than a conventional exam table. If you require this accommodation you need to mention your needs when you book your appointment, otherwise you may be booked in a room upstairs. Overall it was a very good experience. My exam results arrived by mail about three weeks later.

This clinic is wonderful! All the staff are kind and helpful. I had a bit of dizziness after the procedure and had to rest for a bit, but the staff were patient and comforting. Absolutely recommend this clinic!
