About Branches Counselling

In 2017, I started my journey in counselling by completing my B.A. in Psychology through the University of Saskatchewan. I fell in love with psychology and wanted to expand upon what I had learned as a student by becoming a counsellor. Before I completed my master's degree, I worked for the Adoption Support Centre of Saskatchewan. This position grew my passion for helping individuals, children, and family systems. I also learned how families navigate the foster care and adoption systems in our province. In addition, I gained experience in addiction, poverty, intergenerational trauma, infertility, parenting, and decolonization.

In early 2021, I completed my M.A. in Counselling Psychology through the University of Yorkville. To complete my degree, I worked with Family Services Saskatoon to support diverse individuals as a counsellor. In this role, I often worked with clients through the Ministry of Social Services and provided Rapid Access Counselling services in Saskatoon and Martensville. I also co-facilitated several therapeutic groups: When Anger Gets in the Way of Parenting, Adult Anxiety and Depression group, Invisible Scars: Exploring Emotional, Verbal and Psychological Abuse (Intimate Partner Violence), and Co-Parenting. Regarding a professional regulatory body, I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am committed to ongoing professional development, but, as of now, I have completed training in mental health crisis response, suicide intervention, supporting survivors of sexual violence, and more.

I've been seeing Cara at Branches Counselling for almost a year and am so thankful! Cara is wonderful, non-judgemental, full of knowledge and resources, and has helped me learn so much about myself. Cara has helped me work with my family physician to find medications that work for me as I await an appointment with a psychiatrist which has made me feel so much better. I look forward to our appointments, even the difficult ones, and truly feel I wouldn't be where I am today without her support. Highly recommend!
