β β β β β HD Supply are wonderfully helpful. Not everything I needed was in stock but it came in two days. Great variety of hardware to choose from and hard to find items, they have it!
Now that other suppliers have disappeared from Vancouver HD Supply is my candy store for difficult to find tools, supplies and hardware.

β β β β β Maybe it was because I went in there after 4 PM on a Friday and the staff was just tired, but Iβve got to say that was some of the worst customer service Iβve had in a long time. Staff person was curt, not helpful and frankly didnβt seem to want my business. I like to support smaller businesses when I can instead of big box stores and itβs a shame when the customer service is so shoddy.

β β β β β Needed 6 screws that I could only source at brafassco .... $25 minimum (was gonna purchase $25 worth) then they wouldn't accept cash .... illegal business practice .... wont ever go back amd will tell everybody I know that this is not a business you want to deal with

β β β β β Super helpful staff, great spot for fasteners and safety gear, they have knowledge of building codes and usually ask what the stuff is for and saved me from buying concrete anchors that weren't an approved method for seismic load.

β β β β β Needed a grade 8 bolt in an large diameter and long length. Could not find at local hardware or home building supply store. Staff was helpful as they asked me what it was for and gave me a second opinion as to not buying a bolt that was too long as it would bottom out and thus cause the fastener to not reach torque. They had it in stock as well as many other sizes and for a low price. Recommend others and will shop again

β β β β β I was looking for masks for our production staff, and made some calls to get pricing. I called HD and spoke with someone on the phone who gave me a price, and it was competitive with other distributors, so I drove over. After arriving, I was told I had to take a minimum number of boxes to get that price. For the 300 masks I wanted, I'd pay a much higher price per unit. Understandably, I think, I was annoyed.
The manager was summoned. I explained to him that I wasn't told on the phone about a minimum order, and went out of may way to get there. He clearly missed the point, and instead felt the need to explain that with higher quantities, they can offer lower prices. I didn't need bulk discounts explained to me, I needed him to explain why the minimum order wasn't mentioned on the phone.
He said he couldn't honour the price I was given on the phone. I replied that it wasn't that he couldn't, but rather he was choosing not to. He agreed that yes, he was choosing not to. It was an astounding contempt for a paying customer. I left, and will not be returning.
Any time our company has dropped the ball, we put the customer first and make it right, even if it costs us money. This clearly wasn't going to cost him money, it would only make him a little less to honour the offer I was given on the phone. I'm sure HD will endure just fine without our business, but I will encourage others to keep my experience in mind, and get a written quote before making the trip.
