BLND TGER is an incredible food experience. These hand made dumplings are on another level, with their taste and craftsmanship. Parking is great in the area if you're driving, with two parking lots in the area. The pricing for portion is fairly priced, really good value. No public washroom, so make sure you take care of business before coming down. Staff are friendly, and offer great suggestions. Highly recommend as a must stop in the area.

We ordered several numbers; 3 (Pork), 4 (Bison) and 6 (Vegan). The last one was the most tasty. But give them a second to cool or you'll burn your mouth. We ordered the No.7 too (One of the house specials) and it was VERY unique. This one will take a while to prepare so make sure to visit the "Irish Heather" opposite as you wait.

Love this hidden gem! Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Perfect for any rainy nights in Vancouver. The cocktails menu is brilliant and creative, my favourite would be the Empire Jade. The food menu is also superb and seasonal. The Bison MoMos a must try and also by far the best Crispy Duck I’ve had with the bread such such. The service was excellent.

I came here last night for my birthday and ordered the number 7. From the moment we walked in, we were treated to one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. The staff were super attentive and it's clear they really care about what they do. It was lovely to chat with them. The dumplings were delicious. The star was the crispy eggplant - we ordered two! We were told the cocktails are experimental and it shows - I've never tasted flavours like this. Absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be coming back. No 1 star review from me ? what a great small dumpling shop.

The name of the place is Laowei. It's a cool cocktail bar with a high end drink menu that serves locally sourced food with an Asian influence. The majority of the food ingredients are sourced from right in the Chinatown hood. The food is good and well portioned. Dumplings, Ling cod, pork belly, beef, and some vegetarian options. The cocktail bar is hidden behind a storefront that is a dumpling shop called blind tiger. The dumpling shop is operational so you could literally order dumplings here and not know there is a full on bar/restaurant hidden behind. You need to know the password to get into laowei. If you say the right things you will get let in if there is space or put on a list. They will text you while you wait if you decide to walk around. If you don't know the password they won't acknowledge the bar but if you are lucky they will give you a hint where to look. In the spirit if the speakeasy I won't reveal the password. If you know you know. Once inside you are in a dark 1920s themed lounged. Cool vibe and fun music. Live music after 8pm with a small performance fee charged. No dress code that I could see, everyone casually dressed. But you could also be in a tuxedo and fit right in too. There are seats at the bar, an open lounge area and a row or banquets. The cocktails are the show, not your $3.75 highball from the pub on the corner. These are inspired with crazy ingredients and flavors. Not cheap but generally cool experiences aren't. No photos allowed so my girlfriend and i respected that. Service was attentive and professional. We told them about a shellfish allergy and they were all over it. Good for dates or friends. Parties bigger than 4 would be challenging to sit together based on the lay out. Price point is $$$.

Really cool that we finally have a speakeasy here in Vancouver! I arrived first out of my party and thought it was hilarious how the front server at blnd tgr didn't want to let me into the back that easily. Apparently you have to order something special off the menu ;) Once you do make it inside you'll be shocked at how long and large the interior is. The decor and lighting is dark with a nice ambience. Server super nice. Loved the drink menu concept and how each cocktail was part of a different story. The food is best to be shared (there were four of us) and we ordered several things. I would definitely stay away from the the xiao long bao: the dumplings were extremely tiny and had no soup so I do not recommend! The pork belly was our favorite thing on the menu because it was soft and fatty in all the right places. Covered and cooked in yummy sauce. The drunken chicken was another favorite as well. The meat was soft and poached perfectly. I enjoyed the noodles but my coworkers found it too spicy. The fried fish was delicious but again, on the smaller side. While I was waiting for my friends, I had the bison momo dumplings. They were good but nothing special. I thought that they were covered in way too much spicy topping. Overall, the place is a cool concept and great for drinks and the experience. The food menu could use some tweaking so I wouldn't come here expecting to be full and satisfied.

Love a classic speakeasy. The cocktail menu was cleverly designed and fun. Drinks were tasty and the space was beautiful. I just wish the dumplings in front were better! The soup dumplings I got were on the dry side and didn't have much soup in them. I recommend the cocktails much higher.

Only reviewing the dumplings that I had gotten for takeout. These were consumed in about 10 minutes so I would assume the quality did not substantially degrade. Flavors were all right but the dumpling skin though was extremely thick and tough. Value was definitely not there at $9.50 for four dumplings... I'm not trying to compare to other dumpling shops in Chinatown where it's taste only and no frills but given the price point I truly expect it better tasting dumplings. Best of luck to this speakeasy joint as I really love the aesthetic and theme but the dumplings need more work.
