Blanche Macdonald Centre - Atelier Campus

I am a graduate of the Blanche Macdonald Aesthetics program at the Cambie campus and a graduate of the Hair Program at the Robson campus.  I graduated with the highest marks and the highest salon worksheet.   I am presently a student in the Barber course at Blanche Macdonald.  I was a student of the two campuses. When I first was looking for a school to attend, I did a lot of research on the different schools in B.C. for aesthetics and hair.  I am so happy with my decision to have attended a school with such high standards and professionalism. Initially, corresponding to Lise Graham and the time she spent with me and my parents made me confident that Blanche Macdonald was the school for me. I first attended the year program in aesthetics. I met some great friends and was among some of the best teachers in the Country. After graduating, I wanted to pursue the hair dressing program.   I loved the program so much. To have hands on and work with teachers who are so engage and enthusiastic, makes you really want to be like them. I am continuing now into the Barbering program. I am so happy to have attended such a professional school like  Blanche Macdonald where I get to learn from some of the most Talented and Professional teachers in the industry. Both schools at Cambie and Robson are beautiful, clean, and make you feel like a professional. Annie Hellman

I must say this is one of the best decisions I have taken in my whole life to Study Fashion Designing from Blanche. Love the place, Teachers are so experienced, kind and helpful, they go beyond limits to help.. Love the Experience…

I had high-hopes for attending Blanche Macdonald as in general their reputation is positive, and I’ve seen some incredible work from students, past and present. However, upon attending I am unfortunately disappointed and appalled, and would recommend attending cheaper options for hair and makeup courses such as VCC. I was in the Professional Hairstyling program, more specifically the ITA program a while back, this is relevant as the instructor for that program conducts herself in a manner that is appallingly unprofessional and outdated. The first day of classes she openly mocked her former students for “getting fat” over the course of the program, and reminded us to not each too much during lunch to avoid this. Then there was the treatment of COVID-19 standards being frankly, reprehensible. Our teacher enforced a seating plan in the middle of a pandemic, when I was attempting to sit within my bubble of two students who I was close friends with I was told I was being disrespectful and forced to move despite expressing concerns to more than one staff member about this; I was ignored. I had a client in for a colour exam who complained about the lack of following standards, as due to the seating plan I was required to sit next to student who had been out of the province multiple times and was talking about it very loudly in the salon. Again I brought my concerns about too numerous members of staff as this incident caused me to lose a client because it made them so uncomfortable and again, was ignored. This seating plan continued until the end of the year, even in the case of being in very small classrooms.

I am currently attending Blanche Macdonald for the Fashion Marketing Diploma. All of the teachers have been helpful, professional, and highly knowledgeable. The community between the classmates is amazing. Blanche really prepares you for the industry.

I've always admired Blanche Macdonald, I personally consider this is one of the best schools to attend if you want to study fashion, hair, and makeup. The school has the best appliances to teach, they're always caught up with the latest trends and the classes are very personalized.

I went to Blanche Macdonald for exactly one week September of last year. I had very little experience with hair and was told over and over by staff I emailed that the course is “for beginners” this course is not for beginners, every one in the class was already pretty advanced in doing hair and I was very far behind, on top of that the instructor made us do advanced braiding on the second day and perms on the 6th day. What kind of school says they are for beginners yet only serves to people who have done hair many times before. Do not go to this school if you are wanting to try hair out there are many many better ones who will start with basics and slowly work there way to harder stuff. Plus the hair kit cost 3100$ Dollars for a bunch of cheap and useless products that I am now stuck with. Save your money don’t go here. ( would give 0 stars if I could )

I just graduated from the one year Fashion Design Diploma Program at Blanche Macdonald. A review will not do justice to what an amazing one year it has been. The program is intensive, practical, sewing oriented and at times overwhelming with tons of useful and applied assignments. You get to be trained by a range of skillful instructors from the young Alex who teaches pattern drafting and garment construction with painstaking accuracy, to the veteran Ms. Peggy, an incredibly elegant teacher carrying a world of knowledge on fashion elements and fashion awareness whose lessons gave us profound understanding and wisdom about the world of fashion . The program ends with a highly informative career prep course to get the graduates a head start in the job market. The staff are very supportive and friendly and go above and beyond to make sure students' needs are accomodated. I found this school very well-organized and well-deciplined and feel very happy to have found this school.

I went into the Blanche Macdonald school to get a cut and a coloring. Probably the first time I have colored my hair in over 20 years. The student I had was Linda who did my hair...apparently I was her first Coloring job...maybe we were both a bit nervous...but I must say...it's been a week now and I love it!!! I have had so many positive responses...she made me feel good about my look again...even though I am in my 60's, I didn't really have any Grey hair but it felt a bit dull...The cut she gave me was fantastic...I usually don't like my hair after a hair cut and usually go home and change it ..but since Linda did a wonderful job I didn't feel the need to go home and do it my way. I have spent the last 25 years as a Volunteer helping others so their very practical pricing still allowed me to feel professional! I also need to mention that I was extremely impressed with Linda's instructor. I believe "Van" was her name...she was very positive in helping her student and stepped in to show her tips in a very positive way. I loved my experience with the school and any trepidation I may of had at first was gone by the end.
