Great spot! It’s intimate in the best way. It’s small and cozy, with moody lighting but it’s busy as an ant hill. The kind of ambiance that feels like a mug of hot tea in a blizzard. The menu looked great but we hardly got beyond the appetizers. Everything we had was fresh and beautifully prepared and, despite how busy they were the service was quick and attentive. After filling ourselves with appetizers we only had room left to share a plate of Lobster Ravioli. It was also fantastic, as good as the best Italian restaurants in the city. We were a twosome without a reservation on a Friday evening so they sat us at the bar but they still made us feel welcomed and gave us outstanding service. If you’re going with a group or for a special occasion, you’ll want to make a reservation. This place is busy and they deserve it. They gave me one of the best seafood experiences I’ve had in Edmonton.

Got the seafood platter, loved the prawns and risotto! Didn’t love the sauce on the calamari or halibut breading but still enjoyable. Some of the shellfish at our table was a tad overcooked. But overall good experience. Our service was great, and the cocktails are also!

What a great experience for any seafood lover! Made it in time for buck-a-shuck and ordered 2 dozen to start (5-7pm, not sure if there are designated days, we went on Friday) We had decided on the King's platter which included Atlantic lobster with lemon and garlic marinade, king crab with spicy jerk cream sauce, King crab and moroccan octopus with dijon dill lime, mussels in yellow curry cream, squid ink risotto, yellowfin tuna sashimi, seared haddock, grilled calamari, black tiger prawns (copied and pasted straight out of their online menu ?) and a habanero linguini that was recommended to us. There was 3 of us ladies that shared all of this and had some leftover, we were all in heaven! The place was decorated like you were on a pirate ship which I thought was really cool! Our server was fantastic, friendly and perfectly attentive. Could not have asked for a better experience. It was a little pricey, but that was expected for a seafood type place. Would I go back? Yes! On special occasions but definitely yes and it was worth it!

I heard about Black Pearl Seafood Bar for several years now and finally got a chance to visit recently. The restaurant had a nice vibe and service was good. In terms of food, I tried their Buck a Shuck and Lobster Mac’n Cheese. Their Buck a Shuck came out quite nice and it’s definitely worth trying. Note that they have a dozen oysters per person limit for Buck a Shuck.

Revised review: After a few hiccups in trying to eat and order from this restaurant we finally were able to and as disheartened as I was before all is forgiven and then some! This place is unreal! We had friends in town and decided to try it out. We were able to get a table upstairs in the quiet and intimate section of the restaraunt. We ordered the cocktails, the bisque, the oysters and kings platter between us, everything was to die for!! We actually added more oysters after having our first round. The red wine vinaigrette was so yummy, perfect accompaniment with oysters. All the seafood was perfectly cooked and the platter offered a strong variety of flavours, each unique to the other. Worth every penny, we cannot wait to get back!!! Also shout out to the lady serving us, I wish I grabbed her name, she was an absolute delight! Thank you guys for a great night!

Visited for the first time yesterday and loved everything about this place! It smells like warm wood and looks like you're on a pirate ship (but in a classy way). Friendly service and killer cocktails. Loved the smoking cinnamon stick in the Bayou Sour. Nice touch. We shared the grilled seafood platter, which is basically a charcuterie board but for seafood. LOL. It was absolutely delicious and just enough food for two people. Will definitely be back!

Calamari light with delicate flavour and fresh herbs allow the light flavour of the squid to stand out. Like that they chose to cook them without batter! Only wish I had was that they would use fresh squid. Missing the light bounce fresh squid has. Buck a shuckΒ  oysters No shell bits! Finally a place that can shuck oysters well! Would definitely recommend upgrading to a couple of their raspberry point (PEI) premium oysters. They are on a totally different level. Rich sweet and creamy goodness. Beet salad Light and creamy vinaigrette well balanced with a fresh assortment of greens. Addition of the spinach really lifts the salad and contrasts against the strong flavour of the beets and cheese. Ceasars drinks carry a strong spiced kick to them. We're VERY spicy. They did come with some awesome toppings for a drink. Lobster Bisque Dish has lobster in it but is more bisque with lobster topping. Found it a little Heavy on the cream side of things with a sprinkling of fresh lobster in it. Flavourful but the lobster taste is lost in the soup. Would love to see more lobster incorporated into the soup. Mussels A little on the salty side but the flavour is quite pleasant on the palate. Some of the smaller mussels were a little rubbery but the normal sized and larger ones were cooked decently well. Chefs special - sirloin steak with pesto linguini and seasonal veggies Sirloin was cooked Sous-vide and finished lightly on the grill. I really like the mix of seasoning on the steak. Flavourful and not overpowering. Only wish that they would have used a better cut of steak. Prime rib or ribeye would have suited this dish much better. Cooked perfectly throughout the whole steak but found it a little dry on the outside. Veggies were perfectly cooked. Highlight of this dish was definitely the linguini. Well balanced robust pesto which is light. Managed to cook it without it being overly salty or oily. Pasta has that nice soft spring to it ? Pearl pescatore Pasta was cooked well but the sauce was a little bland. Maybe the salt shaker ran out in the kitchen for this dish. The lobster was a little on the overcooked side. The pasta needed more flavour to be able to tie the dish together with the lobster. Service Servers attentive and have a good knowledge of the menu. Service is prompt and welcoming. Ambiance also classy and makes you feel like you're in a fisherman's cove. Pricing reasonable for food.

I really enjoyed this place! I’ll definitely be back. The ambiance was unique and food was delicious. The Buck a Shuck oysters were a great deal too. Although I think the toppings/garnishes could be improved. Also loved the smoked cinnamon Sangria!
