Big Star Sandwich Co. (South Surrey)

We've been hearing great things about his place but have always been weary about this place due to the hefty price tag. At an average of $13 for an 8" sandwich it seemed to quite high for a sandwich/sub. The venue was brightly lit, clean and ample space to sit down and have a meal. Our cashier was super friendly and nice, very informative as we were quite indecisive due to their extensive menu but she was able to recommend a few of their most popular sandwiches. We opted for #18 and 28. #18 Turkey, Bacon, Habanero Jack, Lettuce, Tomato, Sriracha Mayo and Cranberry Sauce. This was like a Turkey Dinner between a bun. Smokiness from the bacon, a little heat from the Habanero Jack and Sriracha Mayo offered a nice counter balance to the sweetness and tartness of the cranberry sauce. A good alternative to getting your turkey fix without the whole production of making a turkey dinner. #28 : Roast Beef, Bacon, Habanero Jack, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Hickory Sticks, Chipotle May, BBQ Sauce. This was our favorite between the both. Key note was the addition of the hickory sticks. They added not only an additional layer of texture with the crunch but the smoky and savoriness it added was a nice addition. Roast beef was moist and tender and overall very well composed. The only thing I would personally have liked would to have something done to the bun itself. The bun came out of the packaging straight to the assembly line so it was cold and took away from the goodness of the filling. A slight toast to give it a slight crunch and warmth would have been appreciated. Overall a great meal and I must say, yes! $13 is a heft price tag but the portion and how filling it is counteracts that. We were quite content after only eating half of the sandwich. We will return as this is a great option for a quick quality sandwich

We ordered Big Star Box(24-Pack) for our event and everyone enjoyed the sandwiches the most. Really great quality and good service.

Love this place. There are two really good sandwich joints in the neighborhood and this is one of them. Staff are always really good and you can't beat Hickory Sticks on a sandwich!

Went there after hearing about it from a couple people, beef dip was recommended by the staff. Would never in a million years spend $23 for lunch there again. Their beef dip didn't even compare to a cheap pub. Beef dip bun wasn't toasted roast beef wasn't hot. All in all definitely would never go back. Extremely overpriced for what you get.

They make a wonderful sandwich, but I don't know if it's as good as they charge. I had the pulled pork and it was really good, but a sandwich and a soda was over $22. I admit it was a nice sandwich, but very much on the pricey side of things.

Under the top sandwich at an over the top price. Ordered the large corned beef with swiss on rye. Corned beef was tender and juicy. Rye bread was light not dark. Very small quantity of swiss cheese. Good pickle! The problem is the discrepancy between what the menu promises for a large, about 9 or so inches, and what you get in reality, less than 6. See photo. I'd hate to see the small! For $18 you aren't getting value. Suggestions: Punch up the flavor in your mustard and bread. Be more generous with cheese. Deliver the size of sandwich you promise.

Fast service and delicious sandwiches! They have great options for vegetarian and vegan customers, including vegan mayo which can be hard to find in a lot of other sandwich places. They also drew a smiley face on my take out bag which was very cute. Will definitely be coming back!

You are looking at the glorious #13! Shredded lettuce reminds me of the old sub shop in my small town growing up. Pesto mayo was a very nice touch. Overall the bun was dense but doesn’t cut your mouth. Healthy portion of meat to veg. I want to try the entire menu as it was hard to choose one sandwich. Staff was kind and helpful. Clean eating area and bathroom. Great value for a tasty sandwich. I highly recommend trying Big Star Sandwich!
