Baywest Homes - Calgary

When seeing most of you giving positive comments, I wonder maybe just me being a bad luck. Every question takes 2 - 3 days to answer.

The plumbing in our Baywest home has been a disaster. When one of our children took a bath on our possession day, water gushed from the upstairs bathroom to the main floor great room. Apparently the tub had not been properly sealed. The toilet in the main bath did not work. The toilet in the powder room was not attached to the floor. The downstairs toilet would not stop running, and the fourth toilet (en suite) had a crack in the tank. All four toilets needed to be replaced or repaired. Since our possession, we have had two major leaks in the en suite tub plumbing. Both cases involved major and costly damage to both the upstairs and the main floor.

We are building a home with Baywest right now with a July possession date. Although there have been some mistakes, so far Baywest has rectified them (sometimes with a little pushback). Overall, we really like the people and the designs. We had our frame walk through and discovered that windows in our great room were fixed (cannot be opened) and that our door was changed without our knowledge. Baywest acknowledged the mistake with the windows and is rectifying it (first just offered to do one, now is doing both after we pointed it out). Surprisingly, they have yet to offer the door we expected. It’s a big deal for us because it’s the front door entrance. The showhome door is actually beautiful and one of the things that drew us to the home. We explained that it was changed without our knowledge or consent. We were not shown the new door but only asked to choose a colour. Hopefully it works out because it is very important to my wife. Also, it’s the right thing to do. If I was a home builder and had a client spending a significant amount of money on a home, I certainly wouldn’t ruin a perfectly good relationship over a door, especially if it was sprung on them without their consent? This will be our third home built by Baywest and we have been very happy with the workmanship and service that comes with building a new home. We also want to give a big thankyou to the Heidi and Megan in the show home, they are very professional, knowledgeable and responsive and did all they could to to make the new home buying experience enjoyable. Baywest is the best company I have ever experienced. The quality was super high. The people were extraordinary. Customer service was amazing. We got to design our own house, inch by inch and it came together without any sweat. Amazing experience - so much so I came on to write a review. I would only ever build through these guys.

We have been in our new house built by Baywest for nearly a year. We couldn’t be happier with our house. Its truly our dream home - a high quality family home, located in Oakridge, the older neighborhood we love. Everyone at Baywest was fantastic. Glenn was honest, knowledgeable and straightforward. We never felt pressured to upgrade and always received honest answers. Jordan was a great site manager. He was highly responsive and ensured that everything was timely, as well as completed to the highest standard. The communication from both was excellent. We were kept well informed throughout. We have had many people go out of their way to tell us our home is beautiful and it’s style fits perfectly into the neighborhood. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Baywest!

We have just recently purchased a Bungalow Villa in Mahogany. The Area Sales Manager - Doug Judd was excellent to deal with. He understood our needs and worked to assist in getting what we looking for in a new home. We appreciated Doug's expertise and also his sense of humor. We really connect with Doug which made the purchasing process enjoyable. We would highly recommend Doug to anyone that is looking to purchase a new home with Baywest in Mahogany.

I have built 3 homes prior to Baywest and never have I had such a seamless and amazing experience. Doug our sales person and housebuilding guru has been patient, full of knowledge, attentive to our needs, and willing to give suggestions of things we might not have thought of. He does this with such a great personality and includes little touches to know we are just not a number. For example: sending pictures of each stage of our house, remembering my sons name when he came to visit, answering all our texts, and introducing us to our neighbors. He is unbelievable and we bought the house quickly vs shopping around because of the impact he had on us. Ashley has been our designer and has hands down delivered over and over again. Giving us different suggestions, going above and beyond with searching for the right samples, providing valuable insight into choices. Never once did we feel pressured or made to accept something we didn't want. She even adapted to doing virtual sessions. She never makes my husband and I feel like each other opinions are less than the others but provides excellent compromises. Along the way Baywest has introduced us to excellent partners: Dave our soon to be relator who came to our house the night before he took a vacation and then sent us an evaluation from the beach the next day- who does this kind of service? Josh at Cartwright lighting who was knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we got what we wanted. When we had a question about the spreadsheet he answered us at 7:30 am. Steve at Trail appliances not only had a big personality but he listened intently to what we wanted and then used his vast experience to help narrow down our choices quickly and efficiently- and I got my big range! A special call out to Baywest as a company. We have been a pain. Asking for adaptations, trying to make our home as unique as possible and they have constantly come back with ideas, accommodating our wishes, and being so fair with the whole process. I know this is unheard of in the homebuilding world. Highly, highly recommend the whole process. When your team is perfection from start to finish you have found the right partners to build a home with.
