About Avant-Garde Music Studio Inc.
Avant-Garde Music Studio (AGMS) director, Alicia Romero, has taught about 300 children, youth, and adults from the surrounding communities for over 15 years.
Alicia’s secret to keep her students engaged, lies in her positive approach and ability to customize lessons to accommodate her students’ interests and goals while providing a solid musical foundation.
She has been immersed in the world of music and education for over 40 years. As a student, obtaining a Bachelor (Hons) of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Education, and as elementary music teacher, private instructor in piano, theory, and pedagogy, as well as research assistant, and online facilitator.
Alicia is an active member of the musical community. Since 1999, she has served in the Executive Board of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association-Calgary Branch in various capacities including President, Editor, and Piano Pedagogy Group Advisor. She is also instructor and publications coordinator for the CASSA Musical Arts.

I am very happy with the training my kids are receiving and so appreciate the flexibility and understanding the teachers and the studio has. It's a fabulous place and I highly recommend it.

Her experience has been great and full of joy with her outstanding teachers, Megan and Odessa. Due to her busy schedule, we regrettably ended up putting her violin lessons on hold but voice is still going on. We just enrolled my 5-year old daughter for voice lessons as she much enjoyed the introductory visit with Odessa. I definitely recommend AGMS to anyone who is looking for a fun, professional and accommodating music studio!

His skill level and knowledge has improved a lot over the years and this is because of the outstanding instructors who are so passionate, patient and love to share their gift of music with their students! Alicia makes everyone feel so welcome in the studio, she encourages all students and challenges them to reach their potential. She truly believes in the benefit of music for children’s development. I had an amazing experience with my piano teacher at Avant-Garde Music studio as she was incredibly kind and always made an effort to connect with her students. The flexibility, especially during COVID-19, was remarkable and made taking music exams easy and stress free. My teacher worked with me to achieve my own goals, including preparing for an RCM exam, all while ensuring that I always had lots of fun. Her teaching style made sure that I was learning the necessary skills and progressing at a good pace while still making practice engaging. There are always fun events and recitals that made the experience very unique and engaging. I would recommend this music studio to anyone looking for lessons as they exceeded all my expectations and were always accommodating to my needs.
