It pains me to write this review because the staff here are amazing and I love the vibes, plus supporting a local small business. But the truth is that their food has gone downhill. I used to love their yogurt and muffins, but last time we ordered theyΒ΄d been removed from the menu. From my order, only the eggs were good. All the meats were cheap and low quality, with that unpleasant industrial aftertaste that bad charcuterie leaves. The potatoes are tasteless and undercooked, terrible texture. So many comments mention this; you need to use smaller pieces, and you need to make them crips on the outside, not hard on the inside. The vegetables (tomatoes, mushrooms) are soggy and have an unpleasant after taste. My guess is they cook everything in the same grill, donΒ΄t clean it properly, and so everything has a nasty old bacon fat after taste. Their homemade bread was completely bland, tastelass and clearly needed more time in the oven. The jam seemed homemade based on texture, but again had an industrial aftertaste, IΒ΄m actually quite qurious as to what they are using to make it. Whoever is doing the cooking really needs to review some fundamentals on how to salt food at a restaurant, it canΒ΄t be that some of the stuff on the plate has absolutely no salt and other stuff has waaaay too much. The excuse they gave other comments that they want the customer to be able to customize is not good, itΒ΄s amateur. Your food should be tasty by itself, and salt is a lot easier to balance if applied through the cooking rather than at the end. Also, there are other spices and flavors besides salt, just frying something on the grill and throwing it on the plate is not good enough. Some fresh herbs like parsley on the tomatoes and mushrooms would go such a loooong way for example. I live nearby and I really want to like a breakfast place in the neighborhood, so eventually IΒ΄ll feel lazy to cook again and give them another shot. If it has improved, IΒ΄ll edit this review, but so far itΒ΄s been a few dissapointing experiences in a row. I hope this review is helpful, I would love to delete it in a few months.

My partner and I love Avalon! It's so nice to have a delicious meal delivered when you don't feel like going out for breakfast. Eggs are always perfect poached soft, great hollondaise and love their homemade oaten toast and jam. Today I asked for no bread with my benny and they were happy to offer and serve it with extra potatoes instead. Yum!

Had an excellent meal and service. Was impressed that the restaurant makes it's own bread and simple syrups. There was only 4 tables available with the current Covid restrictions but we had made a reservation so it wasn't a problem.

New friendly owners! Not the same old Avalon, you may remember from years ago. Many years have passed since I’ve avoided this restaurant after many uncomfortable and unpleasant experiences. Happy to say, it’s improved. Today I picked up breakfast through DoorDash and will be back again to support them.

Great portion, food was hot but the eggs were not medium poached, the ham on the Benny was so thick it was hard to eat. And the potatoes were cut so big that they were raw on the inside. Benny sauce was good tho.

I love Avalon. In terms of downtown breakfast places, it's slight out of the way... but that means it's rarely busy and there almost never a line. It's a small diner that serves hearty comfort food. They make their own oaten bread and jams. On my last visit, I had the Avalon Skillet and left super satisfied. My eggs were perfectly poached and everything was great!
