About ANVIL Coffee House
With the help of our community, staff and the Government of Canada we have made it this far! Thank you so much for helping us stay open up to now. On that note, this is nowhere near over for small businesses in your community. Although Phase 3 reopening is going ahead we need to proceed with caution. We will be struggling through the fallout from Covid for at least a couple years.
The reopening of Alberta has happened very fast. Everyone has different levels of comfort moving forward. Our goal is to continue to provide the best possible service and product while keeping ourselves and our customers safe so that we can STAY OPEN.
With all of that in mind please take note of what we are able to accommodate and what we can’t.
We continue to provide patio seating
We continue to wear masks and ask that you do too please
We cannot provide indoor seating at this time. Our space is very small and does not allow for us to space people out in a way that makes everyone feel safe
We continue to serve up awesome coffee, tea, food and moments of JOY
We truly cannot wait for business to return to normal. We miss the hustle and bustle of the shop as much as you do. We’ve waited this long, we can absolutely wait a little longer if it means we get to stay open and keep everyone healthy. Have an awesome summer! See you soon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a quiet gem in Ottewell. Absolutely phenomenal food, large selection of craft drinks and coffees. Friendly, fast service. Since I found it close to my office I'm there at LEAST once a week. Try their cuban panini - to die for! The staff know many of their customers by name and it's a great cozy environment. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I must have driven by this place hundreds of times going to and from work, but I’ve never stepped in until I saw that they were on the current CoffeePass. I was a little surprised to see how many reviews they had, considering the area doesn’t seem big for much foot traffic. I tried it today and I totally get it now.
Firstly, their coffee is great. I had an Italian macchiato and found it delicious. Their CoffeePass offer is extremely generous compared to many others, too: up to $5 off a drink (most places offer only espresso, americano and drip as part of it and tack a $1.5 surcharge on top).
Their food is delicious too. I got a pesto bun and my wife got a classic bun and both got the spot in a major way. Both tasted fresh and delicious.
Finally, service was friendly and welcoming. Most coffee shops are the same, but it’s definitely not something I take for granted.
I’ll certainly be back. It was takeout-only when I visited, but the vibes seem perfect for an extended stay.

I am glad to treat myself to a specialy coffee every once in a while from a deserving small business.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am not exaggerating when I say this coffee shop and its owners are part of the fabric of our community. Lesley and Tony are great folks and they have built a business they should be proud of. I was extremely impressed with how they handled Covid, and I am so relieved that they are still here for our neighbourhood. Coffee and drinks are excellent, and the breakfast/lunch options are solid. They are even licensed if you are so inclined in the afternoon or evening.
I cannot say enough good things about Anvil and I hope they are here for a long time!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting place. They are on the YEG coffee pass, so we thought to try them out. The girl at the front said it’s only eligible for coffee drinks. That seems a bit silly, as the tea lattes should cost less. Got a dirty chai, it wasn’t that great.
I would recommend they open up the YEG Coffee Pass to all drinks, even if you have to pay a little. I’d rather get something I truly want. Other than one other location on the YEG Coffee Pass, all the other businesses allow you to get any drink.
Decor is great and it looks really nice on the inside. Great job, wish I could rate it higher.
