About Café la Reine

The making of a café

Café la Reine is inspired by the incredible community in the French Quarter of Edmonton, Alberta. Located in The Edward on 89th Street and 82 Avenue, the Café was named to pay tribute to the neighborhood in which it resides - King Edward Park. ¨The Queen´s Coffee¨ as it translates.

The decision to focus on French inspired baked goods, sandwiches, and salads was obvious given the neighbourhood inspiration. Our partnership with Alberta businesses for our gelato (DaVinci) and specialty coffees (Caffé Monte and Chronicle Coffee Roasters) was clear as soon as we met them. We look forward to growing our relationship with our local partners in the years to come!

Very attractive contemporary décor. Nice place to hang out with very friendly and efficient staff. The gelato seemed to be authentic and was really tasty. The flat white wa disappointing. The ratio of milk to coffee was more like that of a small latte. The milk had been steamed past the ideal temperature and the espresso had no discernable qualities/flavours, other than bitter. I overall liked this place but if you have more exacting standards for coffee, it would be best to stick to their London fog or matcha latte. My friend who recommended Cafe La Reine, swears by them.

So impressed with this cute little cafe! Everything I tried was delicious and made with great quality. I can’t rave enough about their drinks too! The staff are also super friendly and the the atmosphere is perfect inside for catching up with friends, going on a cute date or enjoying time alone!

Went back a second time and had a much nicer time! I got the White Lavender, the breakfast sandwhich, and an assortment of macarons. Everything was delicious and the staff was great! I especially recommend the passion fruit macaron.

This cafe is absolutely beautiful. Melissa, part owner and barista, was a pleasure to meet. My flat white was excellent. It paired very well with the Paris Brest (hazelnut deliciousness that is not too sweet). You will not regret coming here!

Looking to avoid crazy Easter breakfast/lunch crowds, we headed to Café la Reine late on a Saturday morning and found it to be a generally pleasant, unhurried experience. We both had gluten-free frittata (skipped the croissant), and gosh it was good. It came with a big side salad (we had potato salad and bean and rice salad), and we complimented the food with a lactose free mocha (a bit too sweet) and a London fog (just right). All cutlery, plates, bowls and cups were perfectly clean, as was the bathroom. I can't give it 5 stars though because a) the drink part of our order was forgotten and we needed to nudge them on it, b) the table and chair where we sat wasn't clean despite the place only being at 65% capacity, c) we had to bus our own table to clear space for another order of coffees and a dessert item... Which isn't really an issue by itself, but when the wait staff saw me carrying up our dirty dishes and cups, he just pointed at the counter and said "there is fine"... Ah, glad to be of service. Still, the owner is super pleasant and happily chatted about gluten free options and sourcing gluten free products. Overall, good food, good drinks, good service. Recommended.

The atmosphere is great. The seating is really nice and the tables are great for studying. I had the pain au chocolat and the ratatouille sandwich with tomato bisque. Overall it was a nice experience the staff member was very nice and she helped me decide what to get. I recommend coming here!

This cafe is so cute and the food so delicious. They also have huge delicious mugs of coffee and a pet friendly patio area. The gelato was tasty and well made. I loved the macaroons, especially the lavender one. They also have a number of discounts based on the timings. The server was so amazing - friendly, fun and very nice. I definitely can't wait to visit again! I just wish they install a diaper changing station in the washroom!

Overall not bad. The cafe is cute and comfortable. Chocolate peanut croissant was a bit dry but the flavour of my decaf flat white with oat milk was good. Will definitely go back to try some other things on the menu!
