The staff discriminate. Turn away people in desparate need of help. Only take in who they want. Its sad. Truly. This is supposed to be a haven.

I don’t know how they are as a shelter itself. But I just recently donated a ton of items. I was not allowed to have anything hold the door open even though there was ANOTHER door locked on the inside. I will NOT be donating again. No recognition or help from someone to carry items in. Very rude. I did something selfless only to receive selfishness back.

They need to be more compassionate about people's allergies when the allergy can potentially kill the person. They also need to believe the person who has the allergy. They also need to be more patient with their clients. And if they are uncomfortable with their one on one worker the client should be able to switch workers.

Place is crawling with thieves. INCREDIBLY dirty, VERY unsanitary, smelly, run down, the food is beyond terrible and worse than what they serve inmates in maximum security prisons. Don’t know what imaginary culinary school the “chef” went to must the same one these high school students that are working at McDonald’s learned how to fry burgers. “Dinner” is served literally at 4:30 which is atrocious because who the hell eats dinner at 4:30?! And if you don’t eat the pitiful disaster they call “food” you are LITERALLY left to starve. And if you buy your own food they complain, yes I’m being serious. The kitchen is absolutely revolting which is incredibly nasty because kitchens are supposed to be clean at all times. Oh and not to forget the fruit flies are peranment residents there too. Oh and seasoning? Well just say goodbye to any sort of flavour you once had in your food while you’re staying there. Fresh fruit? well just say goodbye to that because the fruit are literally just left rotting on a dirty counter. The staff have a HUGE disconnect from the residents and clearly do not enjoy their job or coming to work. The staff offer no help to the people who are living there and are incredible rude for people who people are supposed to turn to trust and receive help from. There’s literally ONLY like three good staff members who understanding what the residents are going through. The showers are so disgusting you have to wear shower shoes or slippers when cleaning your own body. The shower is supposed to be where you go to get clean not the dirtiest place you want to avoid because that’s wear all the germs and bacteria are crawling, LITERALLY. The washrooms are so disgusting you would’ve thought you were in the same washrooms the prisoners in OITNB are in. And the worst thing about this place is that even the staff steal from you! Yes you read that right. Watch out because it’s not just the homeless residents, it’s the staff with the even stickier fingers and they get away with it because they have authority and the keys to go anywhere they want in the building when you’re gone. Some staff are just way too controlling and nosy and overstep their boundaries which is not fair and total harassment. The majority of the staff members treat you like you’re a wild animal and as if you are not human. The place is also crawling with active drug addicts with just the nastiest addictions know to mankind. A lot of the addicts even do drugs, shoot up and get high right in the building either in the washrooms or their bedrooms and come out under the influence terrifying the younger children that unfortunately have to co-live there with them and unfortunately have to witness women who are out of their minds, women who are experiencing withdrawals and women who are not sober acting very bizarre due to the drugs they are on. It’s just truly unfair, heartbreaking, and terrifying. It’s a horrible experience and I wouldn’t recommend ANYBODY stay there, find any other shelter to go to cause this one you will deeply regret coming to. BELIEVE ME you’d be better off with a cardboard box under a bridge (I bet it’d be more sanitary). Place is a complete disaster and LITERALLY hell on earth. The place is so bad that when a horrible person passses away God would probably literally say “Hell is too good to send you there, I’m sending you to Anova” with staff so evil satan is jealous. The staff are so unthempethatic and wicked they’d probably start steaming and melting if you poured water on them. But anyways, to conclude, I am glad I am no longer there and for the love of God please do not try and get a spot there because it it not worth it and you will deeply regret it. The place will have you sick to you stomach LITERALLY with how disgusting it is. Oh and almost forgot to mention how it’s consistently ALWAYS crawling with the common cold, flu, and viruses which could be easily be prevented if the people’s running the place would take deeper measures into more sanitization for the place.

I've been donating to and volunteering at this wonderful organization since 2011, and have witnessed firsthand true compassion and selflessness in all staff as they positively impact the lives of all clients and their children on a daily basis. I give back whenever possible, because the impact is real and witnessable Shame on the person who left a 1 star review on a shelter for abused women solely because you don't like their rigid and consistent security policy simply because it didn't convenience you. You're doing life wrong.

This is an amazing service to abused women. Not only is Shelter provided, counselors are there to provide guidance, advice, direction and coaching. School bus service for your kids to get to school, childcare counsellors , and an on site chef who cooks your meals. Basically if you are ready to receive help and move forward with your life they have everything you need to succeed. They try to take all the stress off of you so you can get back on your feet. I will always donate to this wonderful organization.

I volunteered at this shelter years ago and found the staff to really go the extra mile to help the residents feel at home and enjoy their time. We put on a spa night and gave manicures and pedicures. They also have a great outdoor playground for kids.
