The worst shop ever visit in Canada. Double priced than original price. Rude employee. They actually asking me '"Do you have a problem..?" while I was browsing. Still have a 6 people max capacity for the store visit. Can't understand why.

A great little anime shop. It is mostly manga and figures. The strict covid/shoplifting measures did catch me a little off guard. There is a buzzer at the door and the shopkeepers check if you have a mask. A mask is mandatory. There is only a 10min window to shop and they ask for your bags while you are in the store (so they can watch over it). It did make sense but it is sad thinking about how it came to that point.

I had a great experience at this shop that I had gone twice during my vacation to Toronto. Both times were consistent in categories below. Manga Selection: I've been on a hunt for OOS to OOP manga to complete my everso growing manga collection (now at 1,000) and usually check shops at places I visit. This one in particular had gems in their shelves, from BTOOOM! Barakaman, Thermae Romae, Toriko, Ubel Blatt, Ah My Goddess, and too many others. I was able to complete some long standing series I've had for months because this store had the volumes available. This is a spot where you'll find current ongoing series and also hidden gems that you may have not seen gracing the shelves of your local big bookstores for a looooong time. Price: I can't be sure if the volumes I grabbed were marked up because I did not keep my receipt but they were certainly not at "market price" values of $100 per volume. And to be frank, everything always comes up expensive in Canada lol. A deoderant $8, at the register it's $13, those taxes are crazy I digress. I've been collecting for awhile and the volumes I grabbed were getting scalped on Ebay and Mecari for 5x cover price. What I paid was certainly not anywhere near that. Customer Service: Generally great but I'm not one who likes to strike up small talk just to create a faux friendly atmosphere. I was greeted briefly. I was asked to sanitize my hands; that was it. I went around each aisle checking for manga I need. I did not feel antagonized or rushed by the person at the cash register and the staff who was walking around. I did not experience the time limit restrictions. I asked if I can leave the mangas I pulled off the shelf on the counter while I look around some more. They let me peruse through the isles, not once feeling uncomfortable doing so. I was with my fiance and he also agreed that we did not feel the same treatment reported on some reviews. When I was ready to pay, the cashier had noticed I grabbed a lot of the OOS volumes and mentioned how they were fully stocked before the pandemic and now they don't have many. I struck up convo here and commented on the great selection he had.

Please do not shop here. The shop and products were decent, however the staff was far from welcoming and the atmosphere was generally uncomfortable. I was not asked what I was looking for even offered help. The employees were incredibly rude, going to the point of pushing past people while carrying boxes. I was looking for a polnareff nendroid, but because of covid we could only be in the store for 10-15 minutes. The store was hard to navigate and once I had found what I wanted I was told to leave because: “you’re actually 6 minutes over your time limit so I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” as I was standing in line ready to check out. The figure was priced at $268, almost $100 over it’s actually value. I travelled all the way from Windsor, 4 hours by car to visit since I had been seeing this shop recommended for months and all I can say it it was absolutely NOT worth it.

Went here after travelling to several different manga/comic shops in the city and AnimeXtreme is by far the WORST shop i have ever had the displeasure of visiting. This is a very long review so if you wish to see my final thoughts, just scroll to the bottom. As soon as i arrived i had to push a buzzer to notify the person working to let myself and my friends inside. Not a problem, understandable with the pandemic. While we were waiting, there was a large group near the door and we could hear them berating the shop and the person working. We should’ve taken that as a warning to how our experience would go. Once we were finally let inside, immediately as soon as we stepped inside, the person working yelled up at us that we had 10 minutes max inside. We were a bit surprised but decided “could’ve been a little nicer but it’s the pandemic alright”. Once inside we were amazed and delighted to see the large variety of manga, figures and gundams. Two of us started making our way through the large manga selection while the other person looked at the gundams. The price stickers on the manga appeared to be fair ($14.99 for the ones i was interested in) so we decided to grab a few. The person working then (once again) yelled at us saying, “you guys have 2 minutes left”. At this point i remember thinking that the yelling was super unnecessary and the rushing was completely unnecessary especially since the store was empty except for us and no one was waiting outside to be let in. All three of us had barely been able to see the entire store and their huge selection in the ten minutes they gave. So we decided to check out and that’s when we realized the prices on the books was NOT accurate. At the register is a very small sign that states it’s the retail price PLUS 30%. The price came out to about way over what the cost of the books were (5 manga for $140-$150 which is INSANE). I put back my selections, only purchasing 2 manga we needed for my collection with my partner which came to almost $50….which is NOT $14.99 per book as the sticker suggested. After leaving, my friend who was looking at the gundam revealed that after quickly double-checking the REAL prices online of many of the gundam kits he was interested in, AnimeXtreme had raised the prices by about $100-$300 depending on the figure/kit. In conclusion: If you want to visit a shop where the employees are rude, the prices are RIDICULOUSLY over-priced and you have a super short amount of time to even look at anything, then by all means! Visit this awful shop. My friends and i are never coming back here and we’ve made sure to tell all our anime-loving/figure building friends and loved ones to never go to this shop either.

Super stoked on this place. Amazing selection of classic games. Great ambiance and really great prices on tokens. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Couldn't be happier that this palace is doing well.

This little gem in Chinatown is a great place for figurines and all kinds of reading material, manga or otherwise. I came here with a friend to pick up a figurine that had around a $25 shipping cost, so if you can make it to this location on Spadina yourself then definitely check it out. The staff here are very polite. When we arrived there was a slight lineup since they have a small capacity limit due to Covid, and once you're in there, they give you a brief amount of time for actual browsing 10-20 minutes. It might be better for you to check out their inventory online first, but not everything that the store offers is put online so it's still worth the trip here for the experience.

I went about 4-5 times now and only bought 2 times from them and so here’s an honest review. Honestly seeing other people mentioning the time limit there wasn’t a super strict limit for when I went they just told me to stay for 10 but usually I go a bit over and it wasn’t a big deal to me or them. They have a great selection of manga figures model kits etc and I was very tempted to buy plenty of things from them during my few trips there, the worker, I don’t know their name but I’ve seen him a few times when I went he’s pretty straightforward just let’s u know about the rules time limit etc and u just shop. Honestly even going after reading the reviews I don’t think this store is as bad as people say it is maybe I’m just lucky to have a great simple worker there during the times I did go. Overall it’s not super bad but the only thing I would say is prices that’s one thing I can definitely agree on when it comes to this place there are definitely things you can get for cheaper elsewhere
