I have taken three classes here and I plan to continue. Their response to the covid outbreak as well as the continued push to assist their students has really been helpful. After moving to Canada from the States I had been trying to learn French on my own which had marginal effects. However in 6 months with the AF I have grown so much in my speaking and understanding of the language.

Very friendly staff & great French & Canadian teachers. Group & individual settings. Very good value for money & they want you to not only learn but excel in French. I recommend anyone who wants to learn or improve their French to take group or individual classes at the Alliance Française of Ottawa, Canada

Had a series of fantastic classes here. The staff was professional and enthusiastic about teaching. I have taken classes at other French schools around Ottawa and they were nowhere as good. Specifically my teacher Sara kept the class engaged and interested, even in a class that took place after work.

I visited Alliance Française in Ottawa several times during my stay in Canada. It is a very well organized non-profit organization promoting French language, with modern classrooms, experienced teachers, up-to-date textbooks, interesting digital contents and a large offer of cultural activities to complement the language learning process. Highly recommended if you want to French up your life !

Don’t come here unless you wish to gamble away your money. There’s a big chance you’ll get stuck with a belligerent and unqualified teacher and no refunds! I don’t know if you can call it teaching. My teacher had zero interest in her job. It was like they just got some random applicant and paid her minimum wage. How else would someone be so bad at teaching? I went to complain and not much would be done. The receptionist didn’t care and it seemed as if these complaints were a common occurrence.

Situated in Centretown, on MacLaren St between Bank St and O’Connor St, Alliances françaises service is great. The events I have been to so far were awesome—discussion with a guest of honour from Salon du livre de l’Outaouais on his book, two French advance screenings, “Le grand bain” and “Comme des garçons,” the first kick-off Women Soccer World Cup game (France vs South Korea), and the Rosé wine tasting. They offer great courses, for all ages and levels, in renovated classes for English speakers and others to learn French language and culture, to then get a certificate recognized by Canada and other francophone countries. They always have an exposition in the renovated main room of the house, followed by a “culturethèque” (a type of French cultural centre) where you can borrow books, comics, DVDs, and CDs. To become a member, $30 per year! This is a fantastic occasion to take advantage of when events approach, so you can benefit of a member price for the wine tasting event for instance.

I've been a student at Alliance for a few years now and I must say that it really is the best school to study French at in Ottawa! The teachers are very professional, positive and genuinely want you to succeed. Since the pandemic, Alliance has switch to an online format that I really love! They are able to provide excellent virtual classes that integrate fun activities, group work through breakout sessions, fun quiz games using your mobile devices, and more. I'm actually hoping that they keep the online option in the future. My level has advanced so quickly and I find myself speaking French more easily. Registration is easy, but when I've hit a snag or had a question, the receptionist at Alliance has been happy to help. I've have been doing the general group courses over the past few years, but have also done the grammar and oral communication workshops. The school even offers free activities like the SpeakDating sessions, which I find really helps me. I can't say enough good things about this school; I definitely recommend!

Found the course great. It was a difficult course and I felt I learned a lot. We worked as a group so I found it an interesting way to learn. Instructor was tough but that is what I wanted. I wanted to learn French and I did. Thank you. Would recommend your course to anyone who is seriously wanting to learn French.
