Learning a new language when you're no longer A child is a challenge. This school have the merit of makIng it fun, lively and fast. I really enjoyed every day spent there. Thanks to the teachers for their professionalism and for their dedication to the success of each student.

Not a good experience. I was supposed to go for 18 hours (6 classes, 3 hours each) of one on one training over 2 weeks. I wound up walking out and not returning shortly after the 3rd session began. On my first day of classes my instructor arrived late. Once the lesson began he didn't do any kind of assessment to determine my abilities, just launched into exercises. I should mention that I was put in a rather small and cramped room. There was a very dirty dry erase board and they didn't seem to have any working markers. The exercises I worked on looked liked a scanned copy of exercises from the Canada School of Public Service. I had to read the question on a 14 inch CRT (1980s and 1990s) style television which was attached to a computer that someone could buy for less than twenty five dollars at a thrift store. Lets get back to the training. My instructor sat mostly quietly in the room scrolling through his tablet. I couldn't see what he was reading but I doubt it was what I was working on. When he did speak / get up he would jump through explanations and examples so quickly that I didn't have a chance to write things down or take any kind of real notes. After one and a half classes of running through what seemed like random exercises with no real plan to my learning I explained that the training wasn't working for me. I explained that I wasn't getting anything from it, and went over my expectations / etc. He told me that he would put together a plan and we would start fresh the next day. I was relieved and happy. Looking forward to actually learning something the next day. When I returned the following day I was greeted by a different instructor. He had no knowledge of my conversation with the instructor I previously had. After he introduced himself we immediately jumped back on the beat up old computer attached to the ratty old tv to do more exercises but no real plan for my learning. At this point I got up and left. I explained that this wasn't what had been promised to me and I was completely unhappy with my experience. To wrap things up I would recommend that anyone thinking of going to this school avoid it. If your work is trying to send you there just refuse. You will not learn, you will just get more and more frustrated. I left the place thinking that it was a scam to get government contracts and deliver awful training.

This school really prepared me for my SLE test. I received three half-day lessons for a level C preparation in French before my exam, and I was able to achieve my C! I got a B the previous time I took the test, and I did not receive any formal training that time. Of course, regular practice and study is necessary, but for a little boost before your exam, this was well worth it! I recommend long-term training or quick refresher training before an exam with this school. It's conveniently located downtown Ottawa and they were able to squeeze me in on one day's notice! They know the SLE exam process inside and out, and they will be able to help you. The teachers are very knowledgeable and patient! The location is clean, safe and lively.

I recommend you read the other 1 star review - he went into great detail, but it was horrible from day 1. Completely unorganized, 3/4 of the time the teacher was late. I was scheduled for 70 hours but quit before it was over. I was given 4 different teachers, so obviously there was no consistency, and the straw that broke the camel's back was when I was told my teacher had to leave for home on Thursday and she would get back to me with a new teacher. Tuesday, 10 minutes before class she emailed me that my teacher was waiting for me. When I told her it was unacceptable, she claimed I broke the contract by not attending. I'm not sure how that's possible since I technically didn't have a teacher until 10 minutes before class. They charged us anyway. Run as fast as you can. The positive reviews are probably from people who work there.

I am more than happy to write a review about ABCE. I took a few classes to prepare for IELTS with Adam and I was successful because of his helpful tips. Adam is a great teacher and I would recommend him for everyone who wants to improve or obtain good scores at IELTS. Furthermore, Diana is a Director and she is very kind and attentive to make sure your classes are running smoothly. I really enjoyed studying there.

Be CAREFUL anyone! ABCE sold me a private group French class and they couldn’t open the class because they can’t recruit enough students (3). Now they reject my refund request and said it’s their revenue now. This is not a school, it’s a scam! They just want to take your money away so they can make up to what they lost during COVID. If you’re not a charity, don’t give them your money!

I registered for a beginners French class and they provided us with a teacher that began the class speaking fluent French. when the class told him we don't speak French he replied with "I don't speak English". How do you assign a teacher to a unilingual class without knowing the only language they know? when you contact them about it, they ignore your emails and keep the same teacher because they don't care they already have your money. so now we're stuck with someone who speaks very broken English and when you ask questions about verbs and gender, he doesn't understand the question and when he tries to explain he talks about something else and continues to teach advanced French. avoid at all cost!

This is a NO place to go especially for international students! Choose another qualified and registered language teaching school. There are so many other good and safe options in Ottawa! The owner has no respect to students' needs after you paid, and you don't even think about to get your money back. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!
